The news comes by way of a Tweet from the game’s official channel:

An impressive tally, indeed, though not quite as substantial as Final Fantasy XV’s five million units shipped and digitally sold within 24 hours back in 2016.

Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that COVID-19 may or may not have impacted the game’s performance; Final Fantasy VII Remake’s launch endured a logistical mix-up that may have impacted numbers. Further, it may have felt the impact of conservative spending among its target audience as a result of the pandemic, too. We’ll have to wait for a proper analysis of the figures from firms such as the NPG Group.

Earlier this month, Famitsu claimed that Final Fantasy VII Remake sold over 700,000 units sold in the week between April 6 and April 12. While in the UK, the game topped the physical charts despite logistical issues.
