You may come to a point where flying loses its luster in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, and you instead want to hop into your own set of hover-wheels. That’s why we’re here to walk you through how to get a car in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot.
How to Get a Car in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot
After you complete the Frieza saga in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, you’ll be able to get and drive a car of your own, but you’ll first need to jump through a few hoops.
First, progress the game’s main story until you’re given a mission by Chi Chi wherein you have to go and get a license. This will require you to play through a short mini-game, after which you’ll be able to drive vehicles in racing mini-games and on the over-world.
Next, go and talk to Bulma at Capsule Corp. She’ll tell you that she’ll help you create a car by combining four different car parts – those being Front Parts, Control Parts, Back Parts and Jet Parts – via her R&D department, so long as you have the necessary Zeni and materials to make each part yourself.
Where to Get Materials for Car Parts
You’ll then need to go and gather the necessary money and parts to create your car parts in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot; specifically, 9,000 Zeni, 4 Iron, 2 S Sturdy Bolts, 2 L Sturdy Bolts, 2 S Gear Bearings, 2 L Gear Bearings, 2 Axel Shaft S, 2 Axel Shaft M, 2 S Steel Nuts and 2 L Steel Nuts.
Most of the materials needed to build a car are available from merchants found scattered throughout each area, such as the one in the village near where you fight Raditz as Goku. Whenever possible, you should make your way to these merchants and buy the necessary materials to save yourself some time.
Otherwise, you can gather the materials by destroying mechanical enemies or picking up items found in the over-world, specifically in more metropolitan areas.
As for Zeni, you can get a decent amount by playing through both side and main missions. Complete a few until you have the necessary amount, but make sure none of them will advance you past the point where you can go and talk to Bulma.
How to Make Car Parts in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot
Once you have all of the necessary items, you’ll be ready to make your car in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Head back to Bulma at Capsule Corp and talk to her. Then, cycle down to the R&D option to open up its menu.
From there, cycle to the right with R1 or RB on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively, and then select each car part to create it. Once you have all four necessary parts made, cycle back to R&D’s first menu with L1 or LB and select the Hover Car option to create your car.
How to Enter Your Car in the Overworld
With your car made in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, you’ll now be able to drive it around the over-world at your leisure.
To do so, go to the over-world and then hit the left or right directional buttons on the D-Pad. This will open up the menu of ridable objects you currently have access to, such as the Flying Nimbus or a Bipedal Robot.
Scroll over to the Hover Car, and then press the Up directional button to enter the car.
