Sony’s “The Future is Coming” pre-CES teaser didn’t amount to the most exciting of updates on its next-generation console, but it sure is generating some heat on social media. Website VGC notes today that, according to data compiled by the outlet, the PS5 logo reveal is the most-liked Instagram image ever from a gaming company.

The image has recorded a whopping 5 million likes and 136,000 comments in its first 48 hours. That eclipses what VGC believes is the second most-liked image from a gaming company — Fortnite’s Avenger’s Endgame crossover announcement, which amassed 2.7 million.

The website notes that PlayStation’s Instagram account is the 200th most popular on the platform with 22 million followers. That’s substantially more than Xbox One’s 9.9 million and Nintendo’s 6 million.

Sony revealed the logo during its CES keynote, which was presented by PlayStation boss Jim Ryan. He spoke briefly about the hardware, mostly recapping what had already been revealed in a previous press event:

“We’ve announced several key features of the PS5 hardware, which has been engineered with customizations that will truly differentiate the platform, including futureproof technology such as ultra-high-speed SSD, 3D audio, Ultra HD Blu-ray and a brand new controller with haptics and adaptive trigger buttons,” Ryan said.

“With that foundation, PS5 will inspire developers to create expansive worlds with new gameplay experiences that are more immersive than ever before in how they look, sound and feel.

“Our promise to the 100 million-strong PlayStation community is to offer the biggest and best in content and to deliver unique experiences to gamers with unprecedented speed.”

PlayStation 5 doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but it is expected to arrive in the Holiday 2020 window. You can read more about early specification data and changes to the dual-shock controller here.
