State of Play Predictions: What to Expect from the Livestream

Huzzah! Sony has announced that it will be hosting a livestreamed State of Play presentation on Dec. 10 and it will be around 20 minutes long with several reveals, gameplay trailers, and big announcements. Of course, we like to speculate here at Twinfinite so let’s predict what’s going to be shown during the big show.

Iron Man VR Trailer

Iron Man VR, state of play

Marvel’s Iron Man VR was originally revealed during a State of Play earlier this year and we even have a release date for Feb. 28, 2020. The title will be exclusive to the PSVR headset and the immersive superhero game actually looks pretty fun.

Since Iron Man VR is only a couple of months away from launching, it would make sense to see a brand-new trailer to open up the State of Play.

Dreams’ Release Date

dreams, media molecule, ps4

Media Molecule has recently announced that its creative sandbox title, Dreams, will soon be leaving early access and will be available as an actual full game very soon.

A date wasn’t revealed in the company’s recent blog post, but we can assume that more info will be shown off during Sony’s State of Play tomorrow.

The creative players that have jumped into early access of Dreams have created some fantastic and inspiring content so far so I can’t wait to see what kind of stuff pops up on the internet once the full game launches for everyone to try out and sink their teeth into.

Predator: Hunting Grounds Release Date

Predator: Hunting Grounds

Illfonic’s upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer shooter, Predator: Hunting Grounds, was announced earlier this year during a previous State of Play and is slated for a PS4 release sometime in 2020.

Some gameplay has been shown but we still don’t know too much about the shooter, like when it’s exactly going to be launching. It’s not entirely plausible that a release date will be shown but you can expect to see at least a new gameplay trailer of some sort.

A cool gameplay moment of watching a predator hunt down one of the military men could be interesting to watch during the livestream to keep fans on their toes.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Footage

Square Enix is only a few months away from releasing the first part of the hotly-anticipated remake of the seminal JRPG, Final Fantasy VII. There have been new screenshots and art of the upcoming PS4 exclusive but it’s been some time since we’ve gotten a brand-new trailer with tons of new gameplay footage.

There’s a big chance that Final Fantasy VII Remake will make an appearance during Sony’s State of Play and if not, it could still be shown off during The Game Awards later next week.

Whatever the case may be, the internet is hungry for more Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth, and everyone else that makes up the cast.

Ghosts of Tsushima Gameplay

upcoming open world games

Sony is promising reveals from some of Sony’s worldwide studios and that isn’t the company blatantly saying this, but you have to think that Ghosts of Tsushima will finally be shown after what feels like years of silence and crickets.

The game is still slated to release in 2020 and at this point, we need to see more of this gorgeous ninja action game. Is it delayed? Is it going to be a PS5 launch title? What’s the deal Sucker Punch?

Even if Sucker Punch doesn’t show a new trailer for the game, hearing some sort of launch window would be greatly appreciated.

Nioh 2

NiOh 2

Players will be able to unleash some deadly attacks with some fearsome weapons once Nioh 2 launches in March for the PS4 but in terms of putting the game out there, I feel as if Sony’s marketing hasn’t been on point for this one.

This ninja action game from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo is planning on being released during a terrifying month for big AAA video games and having a lengthy trailer with some gameplay for Nioh 2 during the State of Play would put the game on the radar for a lot of people.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Reveal

resident evil 3 remake, state of play predictions, sony, livestream

After images and cover art were leaked just the other day, perhaps Capcom’s rumored Resident Evil 3 remake will be formally unveiled during Sony’s State of Play… mostly because there really isn’t anywhere else for Capcom to show it off.

Geoff Keighley himself confirmed that the survival horror title will not be shown during The Game Awards so State of Play is your best bet.

The title, if real, will star Jill Valentine and Carlos as they fight their way through the zombie-ridden streets of Racoon City while avoiding Nemesis.

The first trailer for the game will more than likely be shown, giving us a look at these characters in the glorious RE engine for the first time.
