The Shiny Charm has always been one of the most important items you can get in any Pokemon game ever since it made it into the series. With Pokemon Sword and Shield, that’s no different, especially if you’re looking to increase your odds of encountering a shiny Pokemon. Here’s how to get Shiny Charm in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Getting the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Sword and Shield
Unfortunately, getting the Shiny Charm is nowhere near as easy as you might have hoped. To do so, you’ll not only need to complete the game, beating Leon and the Pokemon League, but also complete the Galar Pokedex. That means catching all 400 Pokemon in it.
After doing this, you’ll need to head to Circhester and go to the hotel to the left of the fountain in the central square area, just south of the Hero’s Bath.
Once inside, take the elevator to the left of the reception desk to get to the upper floor, and then take a left and go all the way to the end of the corridor. Head inside and speak to the doctor by the window. He’s the Director, and will give you the Shiny Charm for your efforts.
You don’t have to do anything to use the item, it’ll just start working as soon as the Director gives you it.
What Does the Shiny Charm Do?
As we noted above, it increases your chances of catching a shiny Pokemon quite significantly. Without the item, your chances of finding a shiny Pokemon are 1 in 4096. Once you’ve got the Shiny Charm in your possession, this immediately falls to 1 in 1365. That’s a two thirds increase in shiny Pokemon spawn rates.
