Puma has announced a new pair of Sonic the Hedgehog sneakers for their autumn streetwear collection.

As reported by Tails’ Channel, Puma unveiled the RS-X3, which looks designed after the SEGA Genesis on account of the red, black and blue color palette. The bottom of the sneakers are decorated with Sonic’s silhouette and his life count and the Ring indicator.

Puma released a statement about their collaboration with Sonic, dubbing it the “fastest collab ever imagined.”

Running across decades but never getting old — the famous blue hedgehog video game character is loved by the entire family and has become an icon for ’90s kids and millennials.

Running across decades but never getting old — the famous blue hedgehog video game character is loved by the entire family and has become an icon for ’90s kids and millennials.

Inspired by the famous blue hedgehog created by SEGA and combined with PUMA’s sport and design DNA, the collection contains apparel, accessories and footwear for children and adults featuring graphic elements associated with the Sonic the Hedgehog universe and bold color-blocking.
The collaboration mixes PUMA’s sport heritage with SONIC’s speed and playfulness.

The red, black and blue RS-X3’s come just one year after PUMA released two pairs of Sonic-themed sneakers inspired by the Blue Blur himself and Dr. Eggman. Modeled after the RS-0 silhouette, Sonic’s shoe was made of blue suede to make it feel like his fur, had a red outsole to match his iconic shoes, and had a 16-bit grass print on the heel inspired by Green Hill Zone. Eggman’s shoe, on the other hand, was painted all in red, emblazoned with caution stripes and metallic detailing inspired by his badniks and other robotic weapons and machines.

The Puma x Sonic the Hedgehog sneakers, as well the clothes that go with it, will spin dash into PUMA and Foot Locker stores worldwide Nov. 21. The Puma x Sonic collection will also be available on Puma.com.
