Rubies are what you use to unlock new characters, karts, and gliders. For five Rubies, you can pull a pipe (which is basically a slot machine lever) to get one random item.

You get 20 Rubies at the start of the game, once you complete the first Cup, which allows you to unlock four items, but after that you’ll have to earn them in different ways.

How to Get Rubies in Mario Kart Tour

The first and easiest way to get them is by purchasing them from the store. As is the case in pretty much every game with microtransactions, the bundles start small, but you can spend a lot of money if you want.

You can also sign up for the Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass, which costs $4.99 per month and gives you Rubies as a reward.

If you don’t want to spend real world money though, you can get them as Gifts that crop up between some Cups. You won’t see them until you’ve beaten the third cup (Yoshi Cup) and unlocked Ranking.

Just click on the little present icon when they appear and you’ll get the rewards, which often include Rubies.

Finally, once you’ve unlocked Ranking, you’ll be able to get the shiny red things by finishing in the top six in the table. You just need to get enough points from the cup to beat the competitors.

In short, here are the four ways you can get Rubies in Mario Kart Tour:

  1. By purchasing them from the store.

  2. From Gifts in between Cups after you unlock Ranking.

  3. As rewards for finishing in the top six places in a Ranking Cup.

  4. As rewards for purchasing the Gold Pass.
