The Bigger Game – Outlast 2

It’s getting closer to that time when Sony reveals exactly what two PS4 games will be included for free on PS Plus in October 2019 for those who have a PlayStation Plus membership.

In the meantime, we have a few predictions as to what exactly those two games might be based on how Sony has chosen its free games in the past.

For October 2019, it’s very likely Sony will choose a horror game for its mainline title as the company is extremely comfortable with offering scary games during the Halloween month of October in the past.

In October 2016 we had Resident Evil, October 2017 we had the Amnesia: Collection, and in October 2018 we had Friday the 13th: The Game.

Usually Sony does this for promotional purposes of the front page of the PS Store. The PS Plus free game is included on a scrolling image wheel of fun horror games to try during the scariest month of the year.

This is why we suspect Outlast 2 would be an absolute perfect choice. Its a terrifying sequel that puts you in the place of Blake Langermann, a journalist cameraman who works with his wife Lynn to uncover the mystery behind a murder deep withing the Arizona desert.

It’s a great game to play if you want to be scared, and follows in theme the types of October games Sony has favored in the past.

Not to mention that the original Outlast had already been offered for free on PS Plus way back in February 2014. Therefore, developer Red Barrel has shown it is fine with offering its games on PS Plus and that relationship with Sony has already been established.

If we don’t see Outlast 2 in the spooky month of October 2019, then we suggest to expect it sometime within the year at least.

The Smaller Game – Little Nightmares

After the larger game, usually a smaller game makes the list as well. And for October 2019 we think Little Nightmares would fit alongside Outlast 2 quite perfectly.

Following the same arguments above, Little Nightmares is a survival horror game that is very on par with October games Sony has chosen in the past.

You play an adorable little guy in a raincoat à la Georgie from It. Your small stature will allow you to sneak by numerous monstrosities that want nothing more than to kill you and chuck you in the nearest stew pot.

While a lot tamer when compared to Outlast 2, Little Nightmares is still undeniably scary and focuses more on making the player have a constant feeling of dread inbetween those moments where you are running for your life.

Little Nightmares is also published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, which have had so many games on PS Plus in the past it would feel impossible to count them all.

Make sure to check back in the next couple weeks for the official PS Plus lineup for October 2019 once it is revealed by Sony.

And while you wait, why not check out a comparison of September 2019’s PS Plus and Games with Gold free games list to see whether Sony or Microsoft did it better?
