Today, during a stage event at Tokyo Game Show in Chiba, near Tokyo, Koei Tecmo showcased the upcoming Fairy Tail JRPG by Atelier developer Gust.
We learn that the game will focus on a “Guild development system.”
Since the story of Fairy Tail is very long, the game’s story focuses on a part of the anime in which the heroes return to the guild and need to rebuild it.
If you upgrade the facilities in the guild, you’ll improve its features For instance, you’ll be able to enjoy higher-level and more varied quests if you upgrade the request board.
If you upgrade the shops you’ll be able to trade better and more items. If you build the research lab, you’ll be able to synthesize magical items.
The city of magnolia has been recreated fully and in great detail, allowing players to explore it and interact with its inhabitants.
Combat is turn-based and, of course, magic is as flashy as ever. You can see a few examples in the videos and screenshots below.
Spells have specific areas of effects and elements, which are suitable to fight enemies in certain formations and weak to the appropriate element.
By filling the fairy gauge (which is done by dealing and receiving damage) you can trigger chain magic involving multiple characters.
There will be over 10 playable characters in the game, not only from the heroes’ guild but also some from other guilds, letting players enjoy “dream groups” with them.
