How to Slide in Madden 20

Just as is always the case in Madden games, sliding as your team’s Quarterback when under pressure can be a nice way of making up a few yards when there’s no clear passes on.

When the QB receives the ball, you’ll likely look for open receivers, but there won’t always be options. If you need to make a run instead, you can slide to avoid a tackle, since QBs don’t tend to enjoy getting hit.

To slide, there’s something else you need to do first – scramble. To do so, hold R2 if you’re playing on PS4 or RT if you’re playing on Xbox One. If you don’t, you’ll just start sidestepping around the pocket when you try to slide.

Then, to actually slide when you want to, tap Square if you’re on PS4 (X on Xbox One) when you’re beyond the line of scrimmage. Before the line, the game still thinks you’re trying to pass.

If you don’t while a tackle is incoming, QBs have a much higher chance of getting hurt than other players on your team or they could fumble the ball. Be sure to just tap the button, though, rather than pressing it hard if you want to slide properly.

Don’t forget to let go of R2/RT before sliding too, as the GB will just dive forward if you don’t. If you try sliding as a non-QB you’ll dive for yardage instead which is much riskier. It’s actually the opposite move, so be careful.
