CD Projekt RED is working hard to faithfully recreate the world of Cyberpunk 2077, and this includes music.

The developers are including a song by SAMURAI, the legendary band of which Johnny Silverhand (performed by Keanu Reeves in the game) is the lead vocalist. The title is “Chippin’ In.”

In the real world, it’s performed by Swedish punk rock band Refused, and you can listen to it at the bottom of the post.

We also got a list of those who worked to make the song happen, and you can read it below.

  • Music by David Sandström, Kristofer Steen
  • Lyrics by David Sandström, Dennis Lyxzén
  • Mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona
  • Mastered by Magnus Lindberg
  • Executive Producer : P.T. Adamczyk

It certainly sounds fitting to the world of the game, and since it’s mentioned as simply the “first track,” we can expect more.

We also get a comment from Music Director Marcin Przybyłowicz via the accompanying press release:

“I’m incredibly excited about having Refused on board for Cyberpunk 2077. I know for a fact there are a lot of fans of the band at the studio, including Piotr Adamczyk, one of the composers working on the game, who came to me with the idea for this collaboration.

I’m very happy he did, because the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused deliver as SAMURAI have blown me away. I can wholeheartedly say the punk factor of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!”

Refused Lead Vocalist also commented: Dennis Lyxzén,

“Like us, SAMURAI is a group of rebels, albeit in a different time and place. Working together with CD PROJEKT RED, writing music and song lyrics for Cyberpunk’s chrome rock icon was fun, but also very different in the creative sense. It was an unexpected challenge that turned out to be right up our alley and really got us going. The songs turned out great and the game looks insane,” added Lyxzén.”

If you want to learn more about Cyberpunk 2077, you can read how character creation can impact the story, every way V can kill someone, and, if you prefer peaceful means, how you can play the whole game without slaughtering anyone.

Luckily, you don’t have to wait too long to watch a brand new gameplay demo for yourself, as it’s going to be publicly showcased around PAX West.

You can also check out the trailer released a few weeks ago showcasing plenty of cinematics and the participation of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, alongside a brief gameplay teaser and some really beautiful artwork.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 16, 2020.
