Announced During the Square Enix E3 Conference was the Last Remnant Remastered for Nintendo Switch, and what’s more, you can play it today.
The Last Remnant is a tactical JRPG that originally released during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era. Its refreshing squad-based battle system was something quite unique for the genre and allowed for a massive amount of tactical flexibility.
Featuring several unique playable races and a high degree of customization through equipment, your characters formed Unions, which is essentially like a typical JRPG party, but you control several of them simultaneously.
New to the Remastered version of the game was the “High-Speed Movement” feature. This allows players to zoom past enemies out on the battlefield if you aren’t in the mood for a fight and is also a great way to cover ground quickly when traversing some of the games larger environments.
While not specifically confirmed for the Switch release, it would be a shame not to include it, so let’s keep our fingers crossed this feature makes the jump to Nintendo’s portable.
We reviewed the Last Remnant Remastered when it came to Ps4 last year, and while we thought the story got off to a slow start, we found the battles to be consistently engaging. You can read our thoughts on it here.
