Many gamers are excited for the looming release of Borderlands 3, regardless of its limited-time Epic Games Store exclusivity, and Gearbox is taking full advantage of the hype.
Starting today, gamers can earn points by completing activities through the Vault Insider Program, or VIP for short, and redeem them for sweet rewards. However, players can only obtain these rewards if they have a SHiFT account since the VIP rewards use the SHiFT Codes system.
Some of the rewards are standard mobile and desktop wallpapers (including a wallpaper we listed in our 15 Coolest Video Game Wallpapers for iPhones article) for 500 points. However, the real meat from the VIP are the in-game rewards.
VIP participants can redeem 1,500 points for gold keys in Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which will earn them random, powerful items. But, gamers who save their points can earn special items for Borderlands 2, 3, and The Pre-Sequel.
Currently, the VIP offers two skins and heads for Moze and Amara in Borderlands 3. These items range from 3,000 to 4,000 points each and are a boon for players who want to stand out from the crowd early on. More importantly, the VIP also offers plenty of rare weapons for Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel at 4,000 points a pop. Did I say rare? Because I meant legendary.
Gamers can currently redeem their points for the Norfleet, Hellfire, Pitchfork, Veruc, Lyuda, Mongol, Torrent, Absolute Zero, and Ol’Painful. Yes, you read that correctly: the infamous Norfleet that only drops from Vermivorous the Invincible and Hyperius the Invincible, the strongest bosses in Borderlands 2, can be purchased on the Borderlands VIP site with earnable points. But that’s not all.
The VIP rewards page also includes the Weaponizer, which is a slot machine that doles out a random piece of VIP reward loot, but that’s still not all. Gamers who earn eight weapons through either the Weaponizer or redeemed rewards will unlock a legendary Maliwan gun for Borderlands 3. And yes, the Children of the Vault reward weapon from the Early Adopter Pack counts towards unlocking this item
Of course, everything I’ve mentioned only is part of VIP Season 1. Gamers can expect even more loot later down the line, and according to the FAQ, rewards aren’t retired between seasons, which means the Norfleet won’t disappear anytime soon. Plus, it doesn’t matter if you own an Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC version of Borderlands 1, 2, 3, or The Pre-Sequel; so long as your ShiFT account is properly linked, you’ll get your swag.
Borderlands 3 is scheduled to release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC September 13th. For more news and updates, stick with Twinfinite.
