It can be hard to focus on the smaller details of a new trailer when so much information is given to us. However, we slowed down the new gameplay footage quite a bit for Pokemon Sword and Shield and have found some important details that you should know about.

Pokemon Gyms Are Back and Bigger Than Ever

Considering that Pokemon Gyms weren’t shown in the initial reveal for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, fans were skeptical about whether or not we would see them in the new games.

But now we know that gyms are back and they are bigger than ever. You see, battling is the number one most popular form of entertainment in the Galar region, so not only are the gym battles televised but hundreds of people will show up to watch the battle live.

Each Gym Leader will have a Dynamax Pokemon for you to battle, and you will be able to use one as well, creating a colossal fight that will excite and shake up the battle stadium.

And just like normal, each Gym Leader will specialize in one specific type of Pokemon, so you know what to expect before you head in.

Multiplayer Spots

Pokemon Sword and Shield’s multiplayer mode will somehow allow you to play with up to three other players in a series of multiplayer modes.

One of the multiplayer features is the new Max Raid Battle which has you challenging wild Dynamax Pokemon.

In the trailer, you can see several red glowing spots in the Wild Area, which we assume are entry points into all of the different multiplayer modes. Seems like all you have to do is meet up there with other players and you’ll be taken to a separate mode.

Water-Biking

Usually, the bikes in Pokemon games are used for like the ground and whatnot, but now it looks like you take your bicycle off-road and into large bodies of water. Thanks to the Rotom Phone, it can turn into a few different electric appliances.

No longer will you have to use a ride Pokemon to get around the ocean –better start putting the pedal to the metal. If you want to trek long distances, you’re going to have to work those legs of yours.

Diglett Ruins

Pokemon sword and pokemon shield, important details

You might’ve missed this during the new trailer for Sword and Shield, but just for a quick second, you can notice a Diglett-inspired statue (or Dugtrio).

We see a glimpse of a Dugtrio during the newest gameplay trailer, but this leads us to believe that Digletts and/or Dugtrio’s might be worshipped in some manner. They could have had some major role to play in the history of the Galar region.

We typically only see Pokemon immortalized like this if they’re important in some way, shape, or form. Maybe there were one of the first Pokemon to ever go Dynamax?

This could also just be an entrance to some sort of cave or ruined area that’s full of Digletts –who knows? Maybe we’ll find other colossal statues like this one while we explore the region.

Pokemon Working Alongside Human

The Detective Pikachu game and film of the same name gave us a world where Pokemon co-existed with humans, and the Galar region seems to be going for aspect as well.

In the Galar region, you will come across Pokemon and people living and working together in harmony.

Even though battling plays a huge role in this new region, there seems to be a lot of people who prefer living side by side with these creatures instead of putting them into battle.

The Wild Area

The Wild Area is a vast expanse of land that’s filled with nature and a variety of different Pokemon that changes depending on the weather, location, and time of day. It also serves as a connecting area between many cities and towns in the Galar region.

In these areas, you will have full control of the camera (a first for a Pokemon game) and will be able to see Pokemon running out and about, similar to Pokemon Let’s Go.

Remember, you can only control the camera in these areas, so it seems as if the camera control will be set once you set foot in a town, gym, or city.
