Today the Japanese sneaker brand Onitsuka Tiger opened an exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, celebrating Street Fighter’s iconic heroine Chun-Li.
The exhibition features ten artists who drew their own take on the popular fighter and will be open at the brand’s Omotesando store until May 26. It will then move to the Shinjuku store between June 7 and June 9, and will finally land at the store in Namba, Osaka, between June 21 and June 23.
Twinfinite visited the exhibition on its opening day, and since most of you can’t just drop by Japan in such short notice, we’re bringing you pictures of all the art pieces.
In the gallery at the bottom of the post, you can find every single image. The artists are, in order, Kamawo Kamada, Yuya Hashizume, Kae Tanaka, wataboku, Hiro Sugiyama, Rooo Lou, Hikaru Chou, Misaki Tanaka, DenQ, Chika Takei, and Masakazu Katsura, who is known for publications like Video Girl Ai, I’s and DNA². More recently, he has been working on the character design of PlatinumGames’ Nintendo Switch exclusive game Astral Chain.
The exhibition celebrates a collaboration between Onitsuka Tiger and Capcom’s Street Fighter for the creation of the Mexico 66 SD sneakers, which will be released in Japan on July 27 in two colors. Purchasing the sneakers will also net you a download code for a costume in Street Fighter V.
If you happen to be able to drop by, you will even receive a snazzy sticker portraying Katsura-sensei’s art.
If you’re unfamiliar with Street Fighter V, you can check out our review, even if the game has changed a whole lot since then, especially since the launch of the Arcade Edition.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is currently available for PlayStation 4 and PC.
