Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Fans have been waiting for what feels like forever to get another glimpse at the Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming (eventually) to the PS4. Sony delivered during this newest episode of State of Play and revealed a new trailer with some flashy gameplay.
We get to see a cutscene with the beautiful Aerith having a short conversation with Cloud, Barrett looks rough and tough as usual, and the combat UI seems to have changed quite a bit.
No, we still have not received a release date for this much-anticipated remake, but Square Enix promises that more info will be shown off sometime in June, most likely during E3.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is still being planned to be released “episodically” in several different parts, but we’re not sure just how many ways the game will be split up.
MediEvil
Final Fantasy 7 isn’t the only classic PlayStation title getting a remake, as the hack and slash action game, MediEvil finally got a release date and a new trailer during the presentation.
The new trailer for MediEvil gives us a closer look at the story of the game and to be honest, the remake looks fantastic when you compare it side-by-side with the original, which is exactly what Sony showed off in the State of Play presentation.
Sir Dan’s spooky adventure is coming out right around Halloween, launching on Oct 25, 2019.
Predator: Hunting Grounds
Sony promised that a brand-new game would be announced during the newest episode of State of Play and that new game is Predator: Hunting Grounds which is being developed by the same team who developed Friday the 13th the Game.
While the idea of a new Predator game is exciting, Hunting Grounds is exactly what you would expect from this franchise. It’s an asymmetrical online multiplayer shooter in which one team plays as the humans and the other as the Predators.
The human teams have access to a slew of different man-made weapons and the Predator players will be able to use the high-tech weaponry and some camo to blend in with their environments.
It sounds like Evolve but with Predators and it will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Away: The Survival Series
Imagine a video game based around a wildlife documentary or something that comes straight from the Animal Planet network, well, that game is real and it is called “Away: The Survival Series.”
Playing as a flying squirrel, known as a Sugar Glider, you get to explore the wild world and survive the harsh environments and foes that await you.
In the reveal trailer that was shown, we get to see the Sugar Glider coming in contact with a sneaky snake, and a tease of a humongous and terrifying spider.
The game has no release window, but it will be headed to PS4 and PC.
Riverbond
Riverbond is an isometric cooperative multiplayer hack-and-slash that looks similar to 3D Dot Game Heroes or Minecraft. Playing with up to three other players, the goal is to basically slash, attack, and destroy everything in sight –except for your teammates of course.
This indie action game is also bringing in a bunch of other popular playable indie characters including Juan from Guacamelee, Raz from Psychonauts, and even Shovel Knight… from you know… Shovel Knight.
Riverbond is coming to PS4, PC, and Xbox One later this summer.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
We already knew that Monster Hunter World would be getting ice and snow-themed expansion in the form of Iceborne, but before this State of Play, we haven’t seen any gameplay or had knowledge of the release date.
In the new trailer shown for the huge expansion, we get a look at two of the new monsters: one that resembles a terrifying moose and another Bat-esque monster that looks very hard to hunt down.
The expansion not only comes with new monsters, but it also comes packing with new locales, quests, ranks, gear, and moves, to bring a whole new world to the base game.
Iceborne will be launching on Sept. 6 and will cost players $39.99. If you’ve yet to purchase the main game, there will be a bundle available for $59.99 that includes both Monster Hunter: World and the Iceborne expansion.
Limited Edition PS4
Sony unveiled a brand-new video game console during the newest State of Play; sorry to disappoint, but no, it wasn’t the reveal of the next PlayStation, but instead, a Limited Edition Steel Grey PlayStation 4.
The sleek new system will only be available for a short period of time during the Days of Play event that is planned to happen in June –no price point was stated.
Although, we do know that the console will have a 1 terabyte hard drive with a matching steel-colored Dualshock 4 controller.
