Navi – 6WXRW
Hey! Listen… up all you Zelda fans! Sorry, quoting Navi is required whenever something references Ocarina of Time… Especially when we’re talking about a remake of that helpful fairy in a vastly different game.
Creator u/andygmb made a small Ocarina of Time-themed script in the Overwatch Workshop that is (albeit very limited in playability) surprisingly true to the legendary N64 title it’s inspired by.
“Keep in mind,” the script author warns, “this is only tested with one player and we know already effects will glitch out with multiple players using them!”
Regardless of how much of an actual “game” this custom mode is, it’s still an amazing creation that perfectly illustrates the potential of the Overwatch Workshop in the right hands.
Spaceships Simulator – W2ZMG
Now you can put the outer space portion of the Horizon Lunar Colony map to good use! This space-dogfight game mode was created by Excors and first posted in the Elo Hell Workshop’s Discord channel.
In Spaceships Simulator, you’ll use D.Va’s boosters to gain a tactical advantage in a low-gravity deathmatch arena. As you might expect, you’ll die instantly when de-meched, resulting in a point for your opponent.
Enhanced Ana Paintball – B3547
This detailed and carefully crafted game mode by u/JinkoNorray has already been updated since its first release, adding jump pads to special kind of all-Ana deathmatch.
The better shot you are, the easier you are for your opponents to track (with skull icons and other visual aids), and players are penalized for hard-scoping. To top it off, the winning “kill” has to be with a sleep dart.
Aside from being incredibly fun with friends, Enhanced Ana Paintball is a great way to practice/warm-up with the Hero.
Advanced Widow HS – HPSHR
The change made in the “Advanced Widow HS” game mode is simple, but it has a massive effect on how you choose your shots.
Created by u/Ga5p, this mode is your typical all-widow deathmatch, yet each time you get a kill, you’re immediately teleported to where the eliminated player was located.
Follow the link to check it out in action. As the creator notes, “it makes for some very awesome highlights.”
Silver Surfer Mei – PT13F
It’s amazing how well turning Mei into Marvel’s Silver Surfer works… and also terrifying how deadly she is with her own self-propelled speed boost.
In this game mode created by u/ChemicalWeather, the primary fire on Mei’s endothermic blaster allows her to skate along with increased whenever shooting at the ground.
There are some kinks that the mode’s creator is still working out, like “how to make it so the speed doesn’t stay increased when moving backward/strafing” but it’s still a lot of fun in its current state.
TitanWatch – RKTA3
Give u/buffaloninja_’s game mode a try while you wait for Titanfall 3 to come out. TitanWatch is a creative mash-up that manages to work in the key features of Respawn Entertainment’s popular shooter.
Buffaloninja explains how it works: “You play as a pilot (Lucio) and when ultimate is ready you can choose Rein, Dva, or Hammond as titans. Each titan has a unique ability with them. Dva defense matrix is a speed boost, Hammond’s adaptive shield is a fireball zone where enemies are set on fire, and Reins jump acts as a jetpack. lucio can also auto fire and double jump is enabled.”
Check out the creator’s Discord for “balance fixes, updates, share codes, and more.”
Switcheroo – 6PC67
In this custom script created by u/CrenderMutant, you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself turn into the enemy you just eliminated.
Switcheroo offers a twist on Mystery Heroes by instantly changing your selected Hero into the one you just killed (and giving the dead player a random new one). Check it out in action to get an idea of the wacky good time this game mode can be.
Overwatch Racing 1.0 – Q8KT7
There are many interesting Workshop racing games popping up (Wrecking Ball is made for this), but streamer Daniel Fenner’s creation is one of the most detailed and well thought out.
Created in collaboration with @danefairbanks, OW Racing version 1.0 features “3 racers (although you can just activate more) freeze traps, boost rings, multiple laps, 5 maps, and podium finishes.”
We’re happy to see that further versions/updates are implied for the future.
Top-Down Overwatch – TJFS5
Sometimes a simple change in perspective can drastically alter the feel of a game.
A custom Workshop creation by u/MrMisquito, Top Down Overwatch is immediately reminiscent of other third-person Blizzard gems (or even a MOBA game).
The creator notes that the perspective stays fixed even when using a scope, and the “only things that seem to break the top down camera are people shielding (Rein and Brig), emotes, and Hammond in ball form.”
Small but Meaningful Changes – Codes Via Links Below
Many creators have already used the Overwatch Workshop to fix popular “problems” with the game.
Do you long for an Apex Legends-style ping system in Overwatch? Well, there’s a custom game script for that.
Are you frequently pulling your hair out because your team won’t group up or stay on the cart? Well, now you can make the payload “magnetic”, or force your team to teleport to your location whenever you hit the “group up” emote!
