Rumor: Nintendo Possibly Planning Two New Switch Models

Nintendo Switch

Following a similar rumor last year, Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo may possibly be considering releasing two new Switch models soon. If so, then it’s also possible that these new units may be releasing sometime later this year.

It’s worth noting, however, that nothing has been confirmed and Nintendo has yet to speak up about the topic. The rumor goes on saying that Nintendo may be planning to announce these models sometime around E3.

One system will supposedly cater to avid videogame fans with enhanced features, although still not as powerful as the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One. Meanwhile, the other potential model will target more casual gamers and is a cheaper alternative to the system. This potential Switch model may cost the costs by stripping away several features, such as HD Rumble.

Moreover, both Nintendo Switch models may release a few months after the announcement, just before games such as Pokemon Sword and Shield hit the shelves. Until the gaming giant confirms anything, however, everything is still up in the air.

It wouldn’t be all too surprising for Nintendo to consider other models for the Switch, seeing as how they have a long track record of doing something similar for their previous consoles. For now, it’s worth taking this with a grain of salt until Nintendo confirms otherwise.
