How to Resurrect After Dying in Sekiro

Recommended Videos

Unlike other FromSoftware games, Sekiro allows you to resurrect yourself after you die. Here’s how to resurrect after dying in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

If you’ve played any FromSoftware game before, such as Dark Souls or Bloodborne, you know that dying is a major part of the game. Never before, though, has dying been reversible.

How to Resurrect After Dying

You’re often transported quite a ways back and left to race to your corpse in hopes of retrieving your lost souls or blood echoes. There’s a certain thrill to be had with that gameplay, but in Sekiro, that isn’t the case anymore.

That’s because you can now resurrect yourself after you die.

When your health reaches zero in Sekiro, press R1 or RB to resurrect yourself. This can only be done, though, if the resurrection meter is charged.

How to Fill Resurrection Meter

Your resurrection meter, which is located above your health bar in the bottom left corner, will fill up as you kill enemies or get critical hits. It also fills up each time you perform a deathblow.

Once it is fully charged up, you’ll be able to resurrect yourself should you die.

However, each time you resurrect yourself, the Dragon Rot disease will spread further in Sekiro’s world and will also decrease your Unseen Aid percentage chance.

Consequences of Dying and Resurrecting in Sekiro

When you die in Sekiro, you lose half of your earned XP and Sen. A key section of the game’s stats, which can be viewed at the Sculptor’s Idol, is the Unseen Aid percentage.

This percentage stands for the chance you have to receive Unseen Aid should you die. If you die and receive Unseen Aid, you won’t lose half of your XP or Sen. Instead, you’ll simply die.

Now, as we mentioned above, the more you resurrect yourself, the more the Dragon Rot disease will spread throughout the game world. This might not seem like a big deal, as it doesn’t affect your moment-to-moment gameplay too much, but the amount of the world this disease spreads to likely affects the end of the game.

There are multiple endings and while we don’t know for sure how each one is achieved, you can bet that the Dragon Rot disease, and how much of it you allowed to spread, will play a major factor in determining which ending you receive.

That’s everything you need to know on how to resurrect after dying in Sekiro.
