Is There a New Raid in Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter

Recommended Videos

Destiny 2’s season of the drifter is almost here, just a week away. Maybe by the time you’re reading this, it’s already out and you’ve jumped into Gambit Prime? If you’re here though, you’re probably wondering is there a new raid in Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter. Let’s talk about it.

Most expansions and major content updates across Destiny 2’s history have included raids or at least raid lairs with only a few expectations. In Destiny 1 there was House of Wolves, which scrapped the raid in favor of Prison of the Elders, a horde mode with a twist. It was kind of a bold move, but ultimately it worked out.

In Destiny 2, every major update or expansion has included a raid so far even Black Armory. However, Season of the Drifter is going to buck that trend.

There is no new raid in Season of the Drifter. The content through this part of the Annual Pass will be centered around a new competitive version of Gambit known as Gambit Prime. This is described by Bungie as a more competitive and “sweaty” version of the Gambit players have gotten to know and love throughout the Forsaken era so far.

While this might be disappointing to some, raid content is going to be back in the spotlight during the Season of Opulence during the summer, as we’re likely to pick up on what the heck is going on with storyline teased out during the Leviathan raids.

There will be new PvE content in Season of the Drifter though. There is something new called The Reckoning, which is a fast-paced hectic game mode where you’ll need to quickly defeat enemies in a period of time. You’ll be rewarded with new gear which will include new Gambit role armor which can buff certain actions during Gambit Prime.

That does it for whether or not there is a new raid in Season of the Drifter. Sorry to potentially be the bearer of bad news here, but at least you have your answer. For more on the game, be sure to check out our wiki page.
