Today  Nintendo announced its quarterly financial results and provided an update to the number of Switch and 3DS shipped worldwide since the consoles’ release.

As you can see below, the numbers are quite impressive both for hardware and software.

The numbers are updated to Dec. 31, 2018, so they’re quite recent. Do keep in mind that those indicate sell-in to retail (shipments) and not sell-through to customers.

That being said, it’s a very solid bump since the previous update, doubtlessly thanks to a very successful Holiday season. Almost ten million units shipped in a single quarter is definitely nothing to sneeze at.

Within the accompanying press release, we also get more details on the company’s predictions for the full fiscal year, which will end on March 31.

While many argued that the goal of twenty million Switch units shipped in a year was difficult or even impossible to achieve, Nintendo held on to it for two quarters, but now they have finally dropped it to 17 million.

While this is perhaps unsurprising, it’s still rather impressive that Nintendo managed to sell basically half of its initial annual target (and more than half of the current target) within the Holiday season alone. Talk about a Merry Christmas.
