To be more precise, one million accounts were created, which means that the game is well on its way to success just a week after its release in Japan.

In order to celebrate the achievement, the developer will distribute ten gacha tickets to all players. Those will be found in the gift box after the maintenance on December 6th.

Yakuza Online is the mobile spin-off of the popular Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku) series.  It introduces new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga, who will succeed traditional hero Kazuma Kiryu in the upcoming next chapter of the saga, code-named Shin Ryu Ga Gotoku (which can be translated as “New Yakuza”).

One thing is for sure, Ichiban Kasuga has some large shoes to fill if Sega wants to make him into a character even nearly as popular as his predecessor.

The game is currently available in Japan only for PC, iOS, and Android. If you want to see more, you can check out the launch trailer from last week. At the moment, no western release has been announced by the publisher.

In the meanwhile, Sega is preparing to launch the PS4 remaster of the PS3 classic Yakuza 4 in Japan.
