Is Spyro Reignited Trilogy PS4 Pro Enhanced?
Spyro has finally returned to our screens on current generation consoles as part of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Bringing the purple dragon’s three original adventures to Xbox One and PS4 in a single package, players will go about saving the dragon world all over again. Of course, if you’ve got a PS4 Pro, you may be wondering if your system’s extra horsepower is made use of here. Here’s what you need to know about whether Spyro Reignited Trilogy is PS4 Pro Enhanced.
Spyro in 1080p is a sight to behold, but it would be nice if we could go a little bit further with the PS4 Pro, right? After all, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy supported 4K visuals. So what about Spyro Reignited Trilogy?
First, yes, we can confirm the game is PS4 Pro Enhanced.
Just like Crash Bandicoot, this latest remaster of a classic PlayStation game does support 4K. We reached out to Activision for confirmation and were told PS4 Pro outputs at 1440p versus the base versions’ 1080p.
As for HDR; unfortunately, there’s no support. While both the original PS4 and the PS4 Pro support HDR, you’re not going to be playing Spyro with HDR on either machine. The game simply doesn’t support the higher color depth feature.
What about the frame rate then? Will we be treated to a smooth 60FPS experience on the PS4 Pro? Sadly, there’s no difference — Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a 30FPS game through and through. No matter which version of the PS4 you have, the game will be capped at 30FPS.
Still, having the iconic purple dragon prance around vividly colored worlds in 1440p is certainly a sight to behold, especially in contrast to the original games’ visuals back on the PS1. It just goes to show how far technology has come.
That’s all we know about whether Spyro Reignited Trilogy is PS4 Pro Enhanced, but we’ll update this post with more information as and when we have it available. For more useful guides, search Twinfinite.
