What the Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App Does and How to Get it
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that’s so big and so fantastic it’s likely to consume your entire life. It’s one of those experiences that’s on the mind 24/7. Apparently, Rockstar Games considered that would probably be the case and created a companion App so the game doesn’t ever have to leave your side. How thoughtful of them! Here’s how to get the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app and what it does.
First, let’s recap exactly what the app does. It’s essentially a second screen option that connects directly to your PS4 or Xbox One console. It can be used either remotely to explore and review the map or in place of the game’s HUD while you’re actually playing Red Dead Redemption 2.
With either your iOS or Android smartphone, you can zoom in and out and generally browse the map and, with the option to place waypoints that will then appear when you boot the game on the console. The idea is that because the map is so large, it should help aid the exploration and discovery process.
That’s not all though, as the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app also displays Arthur Morgan’s status and inventory in real-time, so if you prefer removing the HUD completely, you can just use the phone in its place. You can even examine Arthur’s in-game Journal, and the app provides stat tracking through Social Club.
Furthermore, the full digital Red Dead Redemption 2 manual and the official guidebook from Piggyback are on hand if you get stuck.
Downloading the app is a piece of cake. It’s available on both the iOS store and Google Play store from Oct. 26. Well, officially, it’s supposed to. However, we’ve noticed a number of players having issues downloading the app on Android devices through the Google Play Store currently. It should show up at some point later today.
That’s all you’ll need to know about what the Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app is and how to download it. For more useful information and guides on the game, be sure to check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 wiki page.
