How to Rob a Train, Bank, Stores, & More in Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2, like its predecessor, once again lets you play the role of a notorious outlaw in the Old West. Even though it’s called Red Dead Redemption 2, the new game is actually a prequel, taking place years before the events of the first game. This time around you play as Arthur Morgan, a member of Dutch’s Van Der Linde Gang, the very same that John Marston was a part of. There are a ton of new options and mechanics in Red Dead Redemption 2, and that includes the array of different locations you can rob. Here’s how to rob a train, bank, and more in Red Dead Redemption 2.
There’s plenty of money and items to be gleaned from becoming a criminal, but keep in mind that committing crimes and having witnesses will lead to you getting a wanted level and a bounty on your head.
How to Rob a Train
Trains are the lifeblood of the Old West, and there’s plenty of rewards to be gotten by sticking them up in Red Dead Redemption 2. First off you’ll need to board the train, either by purchasing a ticket or hitching a ride illegally.
If you’d rather not pay for your train fare, you can use your horse to race alongside the train, and then jump on it by pressing Square/ X.
Once on the train, you can use L2 / LT to look at people then hit Triangle/ Y to rob them. You’ll also be able to pick up anything you find on the train.
How to Rob a Bank
At this point, we’ve only robbed one bank as part of the story in Red Dead Redemption 2, and haven’t been able to rob another of our own free will. We’ll make sure to update this guide should it turn out that it’s possible to do so.
How to Rob Stores
If you feel like being particularly nasty, you can also rob any of those hardworking shopkeepers in Red Dead Redemption 2. To rob a shopkeeper simply walk in the store and pull out your gun, then aim it at the shopkeeper.
When it pops up, hit Triangle/Y to rob them, forcing the shopkeeper to open the register for you. Of course, like we said before, just make sure there aren’t any hapless citizens around to see your crime.
How to Rob NPCs
Robbing NPCs essentially works exactly like robbing a store. To rob an NPC all you need to do is pull out your gun and use L2 to aim at the person in question, then once the prompt pops up hit Triangle/Y to rob them. I guess if you just need to blow off some steam, you can always rob that lone traveler you happen across on the plains.
What You Get
Robbing NPCs or locations is generally one of the best ways to make quick cash in Red Dead Redemption 2, if you’re willing to take the chance and commit a crime, of course. Most of the time you’ll be getting money out of your robberies, however, if an NPC doesn’t have any money on them, you might get a valuable item instead.
That’s everything you need to know about robbing trains, banks, stores, and everything else in Red Dead Redemption 2. For even more tips and guides on the game, make sure to search Twinfinite and take a look at our Red Dead Redemption 2 wiki guide.
