The new game in the series is full of new locations to explore, loot to find, and secrets to uncover. It takes place in Ancient Greece, which is a time period ripe with activities for players to complete. It’s easy to spend hours inside the world or even get distracted by events going on in the game.

One activity you’re going to want to check out though is petting all the animals you can find. This simple pleasure is a great relaxation method after some of the more challenging missions in the game.

How to Tame Animals in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

First and foremost, you can’t pet just any animal. No, it needs to be an animal that you’ve tamed. And yes, this does mean that you need to first learn the skill that lets you do this. It’s found under the Hunter skill tree and it’s going to let you tame some wild beasts.

Well, you’ll start with wolves and every level up for it will allow you to tame more and more dangerous animals.

To do all the taming, you’ll need to hold X if you’re on PS4 or A if you’re on Xbox One on a knocked out beast. They’ll then be working for you. Note that you won’t be able to do this with elite ones, though.

How to Pet Beasts

Now that you know how to tame them, let’s go back to the point of this guide. To pet an animal, you just need to crouch near them and not move. After a small amount of time, your character will reach out. As long as you don’t move and it stays within reach, you’ll be able to pet it to your heart’s content.
