How to Re-watch Cutscenes in Dragon Quest XI

Recommended Videos

For many fans, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age marks the return not only of a hallmark JRPG franchise to the west, but a return to form for story-based gameplay.

Like most other entries in the series, Dragon Quest XI offers a straightforward call to action for the player. An evil figure known as the Lord of Shadow is bent on dragging the world into chaos by resurrecting an even more sinister being. To stop him, players must travel across the land of Lotozetasia to enlist the help of allies, learn new abilities and gather mystical items of legend to gain the power they need to meet these dark forces head-on.

This is all told through traditional cutscenes played out throughout the game, with their lengths varying across the course of the game. While some are included more for character growth and general fluff, others contain important information that, if missed, could lead to hours of wandering the game’s massive overworld with no idea of where to go next. Luckily, there is a way to rematch cutscenes should you miss them to reassess your goals and get back on track with your heroic quest.

To re-watch a cutscene, simply go to the area L’Academia de Notre and touch the exposed Root of Yggdrasil. From here, players can choose to re-watch any cutscenes they’ve already seen and watch them at their leisure. There is no cost to do this, and it is recommended you do this whenever you feel unsure where to go next.

Dragon Quest XI is set for release on PlayStation 4, PC and the Nintendo Switch. For more on the game, check out our review to see what makes this entry one of note among the storied series.
