How to Beat Dora-in-Grey in Dragon Quest XI

Recommended Videos

As you’d expect from any JRPG, let alone any Dragon Quest game, you’ll need to beat a few bosses in your quests to beat Dragon Quest XI. One of the bosses you’ll come across, about 40 per cent of the way through the main story, is Dora-in-Grey. Here’s everything you need to know about how to beat Dora-in-Grey in Dragon Quest XI.

Dora-in-Grey can be a little tough, so there are some things to think about as you face it. First of all, be sure to equip your party with any items that can help protect them from the unconscious status, because that can be a danger in the fight. Also, before you jump in, make sure that Sylvando and Serena (with the Hymn of Fire ability) are part of your team.

Dora-in-Grey will use both fire and physical attacks during the fight, so Hymn of Fire will reduce the fire damage, and keep Serena constantly healing. It may also a good idea to bring the hero and Erik into battle because Erik’s boulderbringer damages the boss constantly whenever she attacks, as the spell causes damage on every enemy turn when its applied.

In terms of in-fight tactics, use Erik’s Cobra Strike or Sleeper Hit skills to try and poison or put the boss to sleep. If a character is knocked unconscious or another status effect, use Sylvando’s Sobering Slap to bring them back into the action. Also, be sure to keep the hero on offense and as a backup healer for when they may be needed, and they probably will be.
