Pokemon GO: How to Get Alolan Raichu

How to Get Alolan Raichu in Pokemon GO

Recommended Videos

Alolan Pokemon are a new type of creature that has fairly recently been introduced to Pokemon GO, though they originally made their first appearance in Gen 7 of the mainline games (Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, & Ultra Moon). It’s kind of strange that Gen 7 Pokemon are already turning up in GO, which is pretty much still on Gen 3 at this point. But hey, we’re not complaining that more mainline creatures are ending up in the game. As you might have noticed, in both appearance and stats, Alolan Pokemon differ from normal creatures in the game, though they’re essentially just different forms of standard Pokemon (they don’t take up a new entry in your Pokedex). But how do you find these elusive new Forms? Well, they’ve actually been introduced to the game in a variety of different ways, instead of just being a luck-based method as it is for Shinies. Here’s how to get Alolan Raichu in Pokemon Go.

Alolan Raichu is available as Tier 2, 3 and 4 raid battles at gyms from July 19, 2018 onwards. Keep your eye open for Raid battles happening near your location, and make sure you have some fellow trainers on hand to help you prevail. Thankfully, you’ve got a chance of scoring Alolan Raichu at a lower difficulty raid, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble acquiring one.

Just in case you weren’t up to speed, we’ve compiled a handy list of every Pokemon that has an Alolan form below:
