Get the Advanced Classes
Things to Do After Beating Octopath Traveler
As you get into the chapter 4 content for each character in Octopath Traveler, you’ll probably have noticed a few extra shrines similar to the ones that gave you the eight secondary classes. These contain four additional advanced classes: the Runelord, Starseer, Sorcerer, and Warmaster. Without a doubt, these are the strongest secondary classes you can get in Octopath Traveler, and if you really want your characters to be over-powered, this is the way to go.
However, actually getting these classes isn’t as easy as the first eight. The shrines are like mini dungeons, with an extremely tough boss fight waiting for you at the end. The dungeon level is 50, but we were only able to beat all four bosses after completing all the main story content and hitting around level 55-56. Our best advice for anyone attempting these fights is to have all characters equip the Saving Grace support skill. This lets your party get healed over their maximum HP, and will allow you to survive the hard-hitting moves. You’ll also want to make a note of the different status effects the bosses can inflict on you, and equip accessories that will help prevent them. Good luck!
Complete the Side Quests
Things to Do After Beating Octopath Traveler
Every city in Orsterra comes with a handful of side quests that you can take on. Some are more complex than others, and will require you to travel to other cities for an item or information that’s necessary to progress. If you came across a few quests that you weren’t quite sure how to complete over the course of your journey in Octopath Traveler, go back to them and see if anything you’ve obtained from other cities will allow you to continue the story.
Outside of that, there are also various houses in every city that are being blocked by NPCs who can’t be Allured or Guided. Now that you’re powerful enough, you can have Olberic or H’aanit Challenge or Provoke them. If you win the duel, you’ll be able to enter the houses and get some extra items and money. These should be useful in helping you gear up for the advanced class bosses if you haven’t beaten them already.
There are also optional dungeons you can explore in Octopath Traveler, so consider skipping the fast travel option and going back to explore some of the pathways to find ruins and caves. Some of these are tied to side quests, while others just offer up more items and money.
Revisit Every City
Things to Do After Beating Octopath Traveler
After completing all eight stories in Octopath Traveler, you’ll definitely want to return to every single city you’ve visited on your journey. There are some post-game side quests that only open up once you’ve completed certain stories, and these will provide some additional closure for the NPCs you’ve encountered along the way. Just to get you started, Ali can be found in Sunshade, while Revello can be found in Quarrycrest. We’ve got a full list of all the quests we’ve found so far, which you can check out here.
If you were disappointed by the lack of a unified or interconnected story in Octopath Traveler, these side quests actually give you a little more insight into the common threads you might have noticed across the eight stories as well. NPCs from different stories are seen interacting with each other, and it’s a nice way to flesh out Octopath Traveler’s history and lore.
Do the Post-Game Dungeon
Things to Do After Beating Octopath Traveler
As it turns out, there is indeed a post-game dungeon you can attempt after beating all eight stories and clearing some side quests. We’ve got full instructions here, which are spoiler-free, but also include some details on how to beat the relevant quests. Do note that we did complete every single epilogue quest, every NPC multi-part quest, and got every secondary class as well. We know for sure that In Search of Father and Daughter of the Dark God are required for unlocking the dungeon, but we cannot confirm that those are the sole requirements.
