How to Change Clothes & Outfits in Octopath Traveler
Octopath Traveler harkens back to the days of traditional RPGs with its turn-based battles and classic graphics. Granted, your character’s appearance is probably the last thing you will be focusing on in the game, especially since the game is built with 2D HD sprites. That being said, there is actually a way to change clothes and outfits in Octopath Traveler.
All of the playable heroes each start out with their specific job: Ophilia is a Priestess, Tressa is a Merchant, Primrose is a Dancer, and so on and so forth. As you make your way through your adventure, you will have the option of assigning these characters a secondary class or job. Each hero has the option to pick from any class in the game, so Primrose can become a Merchant while Ophilia can take up the Dancer role. Whenever you switch jobs in Octopath Traveler, your character’s clothes and outfits will also change accordingly. Their new clothes basically boil down to what job class they have equipped, and you can probably guess what they will be wearing depending on which one you will be choosing. However, their new outfits will only be visible in battle. When you’re out of combat, your characters will still be wearing their default outfits.
It’s important to note that this is the only way you can change clothes and outfits in Octopath Traveler. There are no shops that sell any form of outfits or trinkets for your heroes, nor can you find chests or unlockables that offer cosmetic rewards. On top of that, Square Enix has mentioned that they have no plans of releasing DLC for the game, so we can also rule out the possibility of purchasable clothes and outfits for our Octopath Traveler heroes.
Clothes and outfits aside, gaining a secondary class will help strengthen your characters through new skills. If you are looking for more tips, tricks, and information on Octopath Traveler, be sure to check out our wiki.
