Octopath Traveler is coming to Nintendo Switch very soon, bringing its unique take on classic role-playing games to the handheld system. When you reach the end, however, it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to add anything onto the game in terms of DLC. According to producer Masashi Takashi during a new interview with Dengeki Online (via Siliconera,) the team “hasn’t even thought” about adding DLC.
“The retail version is a complete game,” Takahashi said.
He also confirmed that there will, however, be a New Game Plus mode, so you can complete the game in one playthrough and have the difficulty “organically” change as you play through a second (or third) time, depending on where you head in the game and at different times. The main questline can take about 50-60 hours to finish, with that number inflated to something more like 80 to 100 if you end up finishing up all the sidequests.
Octopath Traveler is coming to Switch on July 13, though there’s a special Prologue Demo on Switch right now if you’re interested in playing it. You can complete a good chunk of the game using the demo, and you can play as all eight of the game’s protagonists, if you so choose, allowed up to the first chapter of each character’s saga.
