The Grand Theft Auto series was taken to another level of popularity of by GTA Online. It took a while to come to GTA V, a game that was already immensely popular, but it gave it the legs to be popular at the tail end of the last generation, and throughout this one. Whether it be simply exploring Los Santos, attempting some heists, or taking part in wacky races against your friends, everything that you can do in GTA Online is as fun to watch as it is to play.
It should come as no surprise then that the game is still popular on Twitch, with there currently being 222 active partners. Red Dead Redemption 2’s release later this year might see a lot of people step away, however.

Much like other MOBAs, Dota 2 isn’t the easiest game to jump into, with its 100+ characters and variety of maps, but that might be why watching it is so popular. It has hit 392,852 concurrent viewers on Twitch and the active Twitch Partners has hit 300. The game’s huge eSports scene also plays a part in the game’s popularity on Twitch.
The international competitions pull in thousands of viewers as they wait to see who picks up the huge cash prizes. It may not be the easiest to get into as a streamer who’s new to the game, but if you’re already familiar, it might be a great choice.
7) World of Warcraft – Active Twitch Partners: 307
One of the most famous and popular PC games of all time is, unsurprisingly, also one of the most watched games on Twitch. One of the seminal MMORPGs, World of Warcraft sees you create a character and set out to complete quests and interact with characters and enemies throughout the game’s world. It’s been frequently updated since its release in 2004, and it’s still going strong today.
Also, with a new expansion due to drop later in 2018, it is only going to get more active as the year progresses. If you want to take advantage of the inevitable surge in players and viewers, now may be a great time to get into streaming World of Warcraft.

It is incredible that Blizzard has been able to make a collectible card game something that is so thrilling to watch. When you’re watching someone who is great at the game show how it’s done, the matches can get very intense, which is likely why Hearthstone’s esports scene is so huge.

Also, since it’s based on the lore and characters of World of Warcraft, a lot of people might already be familiar with what it’s about. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s ability to keep its fans engaged is incredible. The battle royale game that started the craze as we now know it, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still going strong on Twitch. It may be overshadowed generally, in terms of viewing figures, but there’s certainly still a place for the game. The more realistic, tactical gameplay is something that there’ll always be an audience for.
Some people don’t enjoy the cartoony, over-the-top action of Fortnite, and prefer their third-person shooting to be slower and more accurate. Those same people are also likely to choose to watch a stream of that game as well. With 659 active Twitch Partners, PUBG is still one of the big guns on the streaming service.

Fortnite, or the battle royale genre in general, may be seemingly taking over the gaming world, but there’s another game that’s been at the top of the Twitch Active Partners list since long before they were popular. League of Legends originally released in 2009 and still has over 900 active partners, which is the second highest on the platform.
If, somehow, you do not know how League of Legends works, it is a MOBA that’s created by Riot Games and sees players take control a champion and attempt to destroy the opposing team’s ‘nexus.’ The fact that the game has more than 100 million active users each month, and the game’s esports popularity, means that it’s no surprise that a lot of people watch the game being streamed.
1) Fortnite – Active Twitch Partners: 1,338
Number one should come as no surprise. Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, the game that’s taking over the gaming world, is also taking over Twitch in terms of viewers and Twitch Partners. Almost every metric that Twitch keeps a track of is increasing daily. Average viewers is up 1.4% since last week, there’re over 10,000 live channels that stream Epic’s game, and the total number of Twitch Partners is getting higher and higher, with it being at 1,338 at the time of writing.
With the game itself being so popular, it makes sense that streaming it is just as popular. With nearly 400 more Twitch Partners than second place, it’s pretty obvious which game is the best to stream.
