Is Fortnite Battle Royale Shutting Down?

Recommended Videos

There seems to be a rumor going around the internet right now that Fortnite Battle Royale’s current maintenance downtime is somehow related to the game shutting down for good. Well, let us put those fears to bed, as the whole rumor of Battle Royale shutting down is completely false.

If you’re wondering where all this came from, let us explain. An image of an alleged tweet from the official Fortnite Twitter account went about stating the following.

“Due to the law suit against PubG on copyright infringement. We are sorry to inform you that Fortnite Battle Royale Will be coming to an end May 24, 2018. Save the world will still be in development and we will roll out ASAP. Thank you all for the support.”

First off, a quick check of the actual Fortnite Twitter account feed shows no signs of any tweet anything like this. The second telling sign that this is, in fact, fake, is the incorrect grammar and spelling throughout the tweet. Of course, once one person hears or sees the rumor, it can catch on like wildfire.

Fear not, though, as the current Battle Royale downtime is simply a case of ironing out some of the bugs that made their way into the v3.5 update. Just sit tight and you’ll be jumping out the Battle Bus again before you know it.
