How to Beat Hello Neighbor

How to Beat Hello Neighbor

Recommended Videos

The complete version of Hello Neighbor is available now, which means it’s time to officially find the best way to break into your creepy neighbor’s house. Hello Neighbor is a stealth game that’s all about finding ways to outsmart an AI that is programmed to try to outsmart you. Your neighbor will be learning from your decisions and movements in the game so you won’t be able to just keep trying the same tactic over and over again and still find much success with it. Because of the AI’s ability to learn and adjust and all the various items and passages in Hello Neighbor, there are several different methods you could use to beat the game. This walkthrough will present one possible way to beat Hello Neighbor but keep in mind that there are multiple ways to successfully discover the truth about your neighbor.

Act 1

Your main objective in Act 1 of Hello Neighbor is to get your hands on the red key. You may be tempted to immediately start creeping around your neighbors home but you should start by focusing on your own house instead. Find your way to the closet underneath the stairs in your home to grab some boxes. You’ll keep these in your inventory so you can use them to get on top of your neighbor’s roof. There are also boxes in the neighbor’s yard that you can use, but grabbing these does put you at risk that he may spot you through the window.

Make sure you have at least two boxes in your inventory and something that you can throw to break a window before you head over to the neighbor’s house. Before you climb the roof, toss something through the upstairs window to the left when facing the front of the house. This will be the window you will end up climbing through. Now make your way to the yellow shelves that are leaning against the house to the left of the front door. You can hop on top of the shelves with a good running start and then use the boxes in your inventory to give you the final added height you need to get on top of the roof. Now just leap across the roof and into the window that you should have broken open earlier. Keep in mind that you can wait to break the window until you are on top of the roof (sometimes objects can be a bit wonky to keep control of up there).

When you’re inside the room, you’ll notice a painting of a flower on the wall next to the door. Throw any object in the room at this and it will reveal a secret entrance into the purple room. Grab the gold key and unlock the door next to it. Now turn to your right and pick up the red key that’s hanging on the wall. This key opens the trunk to the red car in the neighbor’s yard. Go open the trunk to receive a magnet. Pick up some more boxes and go to the back of the house where you see a ladder that’s being blocked off. Use the boxes in your inventory to climb on top of and reach the the small window right next to this. Use the magnet to grab the lock pick off the shelf. It honestly doesn’t look quite like a lock pick from afar but just trust us that the weird white tool next to the pot of glue on the top shelf is actually a lock pick. After you have successfully grabbed it, go to the window on the side of the house that has a black wire coming through it. The window is already open so no need to grab any items to try to break into the home with as long as you still have the lock pick on hand.

Once you’re inside, go to the hallway and use the lock pick to open the door to the left of the staircase, which will allow you to actually enter the shed you just snagged the lock pick from. Grab the wrench and then go back outside to where you were when you first stole the lock pick and use the wrench to gain access to the ladder that is being blocked off. Climb the ladder and follow along the roof until you finally reach a hole that lets you see inside the house. Jump down into the room and grab the red key that’s sitting on a green table. Creep your way down to the main floor, being sure to avoid the neighbor, and use the red key to the open the basement.

Go inside the basement and find the washing machine. Open it and use the secret entrance you’ll find here to make your way into the next room. Pull one of the paintings of an open window off the wall so you can leave the room and explore the rest of the basement. There is a wall switch you can use to open up a grate and go into the next area. This portion of the basement is pretty spacious but you’ll need to go over to the area with a red lightbulb and creepy puppet. There is another grate here that you can open with a switch. This will reveal another room with a fence. Go over to the fence and pull the chair away from the door to go into the next area. To your right there is a weird black patch on the wall that you can break through by throwing any object at it. This will allow you access to the generator but don’t go in yet. First you’ll need to make your way back to the beginning where the first switch was and flip the wall breaker. Now you can safely go back to the generator and pull the lever. This will turn on the power and allow you to make your way to the final exit on the opposite side of the fence. Hit the switch on the green lit exit door. This will initiate a chase and you’ll end up at a door with tons of locks on it (but you don’t have any of the keys).

Act 2

Act 2 of Hello Neighbor puts a bit of a spin on things as now you’ll be trying to get out of the house instead of sneaking in. You’ll find yourself in the weird fake room you found in Act 1 and there doesn’t seem to be any way out. Go look through the keyhole in the door and just keep looking around until you hear something fall over. Investigate the sound and find the window where the boards have fallen over. You should hear a click at this point. The door has been unlocked. Just open the door and head into the next area to find a grate with a red light shining through it. Remove the grate and crawl through it. Once you climb up the ladder you will see a large fence. If you look through the broken area on the fence you will find a pipe with a gauge on it. You’ll need to locate three other pipes around the area and pull the levers on them. Keep following the fence and you’ll end up stumbling upon the first pipe.

Now go around to the other side of the house until you find a window that looks into the kitchen. Throw something through the window to break it and head inside to the refrigerator. Open the freezer and grab the wrench inside. Go back to the ladder from the first act that was being blocked off and use the wrench to make your way past that dilapidated fence. Climb on the roof and make your away across. Crouch down at the end and inch forward until you’re able to turn the second lever. The last lever is actually inside the house so you’ll need to find a way inside. Make your way to the room that’s off to the right of the main entrance of the house. The third and final pipe is against the wall next to the couch.

Next, go outside and head over to where the pipe is sticking up out of the ground. Use any item to break the only window that’s facing a different direction than the others. Place a box in front of the window that you can climb on top of to get inside. Go through the door and you’ll discover a boiler. Flip the switch on it and then go back to the very first pipe that had the gauge on it. The red wheel has now come off the pipe. Pick it up and then make your way back up to the roof. When you get over to the pipes, you’ll notice there is a red band that doesn’t have a level. Make your way unto the pipes and screw the wheel into place. Now turn the wheel until you hear water gushing. Pick the wheel back up as you’ll need to do this again.

Find two boxes to keep in your inventory and go back up the ladder. There is an area where the roof meets the fence. You can stack boxes to jump on top of this section of the fence. Be careful as you move around here as it’s very easy to fall off. You should be able to spot a section of the pipe just like the one that was on the roof where there appears to be a red wheel missing. Place the wheel and turn it until water starts coming out of the pipe. This is actually draining water from another area.

Go back to the roof and enter the door. You’ll follow the ladder and a set of stairs until you find another door that you’ll go through. This is the area that was once filled with water. Go pick up the shovel in the middle of the room and then go out the door in the opposite side from where you came in. You should see a gold key hanging on the wall. Grab it and proceed to the hole in the middle of the floor in the next room. Use the ladder to get inside a kid’s bedroom with a dollhouse. Pull the chair off the door that’s keeping it closed. Leave the room and go downstairs to the main part of the house. You should be able to find a large machine against the wall with a long wire coming out of it. Follow this wire until you reach another door. Grab the key and unlock the door before you go back to the large machine and place your red wheel on it. Turn the wheel and then take it back off before pulling the red lever.

Now head back to the door you just unlocked and make your way through it to another door until you find yourself outside again. Go around to the side of the house and start digging where you see a patch of dirt instead of grass. This will reveal a coffin with a small key in it. Grab the key. Return to the kid’s room you were in earlier and use the key you found to open up the dollhouse. You’ll hear some strange noises. Opening the dollhouse has caused the actual house to change and you’ll now have access to a bathroom and another side room. Go back to the room with the large boiler in it and grab the broken wheel. Find the red bands on the pipe and repeat the usual process here. After you pick the wheel back up again go to the very front of the house. You’ll see a ladder off to the side of the porch. Climb the ladder and make your way across the roof. Once again there will be a pipe section that you can use the red wheel on. Repeat the same process as before.

Go back inside the house and go towards the kid’s room that had the dollhouse in it. Just outside the kid’s room there is a ladder in the hallway. Climb the ladder and you’ll see a red faucet. Hop down unto the pipes you’ll see below and put the trusty red wheel to work again. This will turn on the faucet and flood the room. Once the room is filled with water, go back into the hallway and open up the other door. You’ll find a switch on the wall next to another gauge. Flip the switch so that the water in the other room freezes. You’ll now be able to walk across the ice to get to the door on the other side of the room.

Go through the door and grab the red key off the door. Make your way back down to the first floor and go through the kitchen to reach the bathroom. Take the toy construction worker off the toilet. Make your way back up to the kid’s room and place the construction worker toy on the toilet in the dollhouse. If you run back downstairs to the bathroom you’ll see that the toy is back on the toilet again but this time around the crowbar in his hand will be unlocked. Grab it and go to the front of the house. Go to the right side of the porch and find a weird gap in the fence that has been barred up with metal tacks. Use the crowbar to remove the tacks and then crawl through the fence. This will initiate a cut scene and let you know that Act 2 is almost complete.

After the cut scene you’ll need to use the binoculars to look out the window until there is suddenly a knock on your door. Grab the post card that comes through the mail slot and another cut scene will kick off. This will mark the end of the Act 2.

Act 3

After you receive and read the letter you will find yourself in a new location in Hello Neighbor. Make your way across the street where there is a car in the neighbor’s yard. Grab the key out the trunk and go into the house. This will trigger another cutscene. After the cutscene, pick the phone up and watch another  Hello Neighbor cutscene. After you enter the neighbor’s house through the front door, follow the right corridor until you reach the stairs. You should notice a small wall lamp that, for some reason, you can actually jump on top of. Hop on the lamp and then jump towards the opening between the two black gates blocking off a room upstairs. Go over to the scattered collection of pictures on the wall and keep moving them until you uncover a secret passage. You can pull the lever to open up the gate or jump back through the gap and on to the stairs to make your way to the newly discovered passage. Go through and pass through the first areas until you reach a room with a crowbar inside a box on the wall. The crowbar is hot so you will not be able to hold it but it will cool off in your inventory over time. Grab the crowbar, jump down to reach a new area of the house, and pick up the umbrella that’s in this room.

Stand on the platform and throw an object at the switch behind the couch. This will make the platform rise and grant you access to a new door. You will be tasked with getting a cart to the end of a strange corridor with five objects inside but there will be Hello Neighbor dummies there to attempt to interrupt you. Crouch down when the dummies are coming near you so they will lose interest. If they don’t give up the chase, however, run and avoid them or you’ll have to start over and your items will be removed from the cart. Once you get past the cash register, go towards the door with the exit sign on them. You will find yourself back at your neighbor’s house.

Go to the back of the house in Hello Neighbor and use boxes to reach the small window that is open and has its cover hanging off. If you look through you’ll see a level you can pull. Pull it to open doors in the house. Now use any object to break the large window right next to the small one you just looked through. Go inside and go to your left until you discover a ladder. Climb all the way to the top and then go through the door. Jump on to the train track and then jump over to the Hello Neighbor area where there is a passage in the floor. Jump through this hole to reach a new area where you will find a sort of control panel. Use the button and level to turn the train on, which will allow it to start running around the roof.

Now you’ll need to get the red key. Go towards the room that had the crowbar and umbrella in it. You will notice a cage on the wall with a lever in side. Throw a shoe at the level to switch it. This will cause the compartment holding the red key to open up in Hello Neighbor. Go grab the key and then make your way to the train car. The train will stop inside buildings. Place some boxes and an armchair in front of the train. Then use the pipe right next to the train to jump on before jumping on to the roof of the train car. As the train makes its away around the track again, you’ll want to actually jump on top of the roof as the train prepares to go through a small corridor that’s too small for you to go through while on the train.

Go to the Hello Neighbor section of the roof with trees. You’ll find a hatch with a yellow triangle on it. Open it up and toss one of the cardboard boxes inside. Now the umbrella is going to come in handy. Next to the hatch there is a portion of the roof that will lead you to a pipe you can walk on. There is a building with a slanted roof and an odd structure hanging between two beams. You can jump over to this but you’ll have to use the umbrella so you can glide your way across the gap. Go inside this weird Hello Neighbor building and find the door with the red lock. Unlock this with the red key and go into the new location.

Use the various furniture in here to climb up and then throw a cup or any item at the shelf that’s preventing you from moving forward towards the green exit sign. Now you’ll need to jump to the toaster, which will shoot you out and toss you all the way up to the higher shelves. Pick up the darts you will discover here. You don’t need them for now but you’ll soon be happy you have them. Now you’ll need to focus on the paper plane. Start pushing the paper plane and then hop inside it to reach the next shelf. Continue your journey climbing up even more by utilizing the darts. Throw the darts into the furniture to use them as makeshift steps to climb on top of objects that are a bit too tall for you. Finally you will be able to see a red lamp. Jump towards it and you will see a prompt instructing you to use the jump button again. Quickly jump again and you’ll be able to reach a new location. You will also have the ability to double jump moving forward.

Now it’s time for you to focus on grabbing the green key. Go to the room that had the tracks in it. You used this room earlier to get to the roof section with trees. There is a section in the wall where you can see cardboard boxes stacked. Get the boxes out the way by building a tower with them in order to continue. When you go into the next room you’ll see a green key on the floor. Pick it up and go back to the other area so you can go down the stairs. Head to the door at the bottom of the stairs with a green light over it. This will take you to a new location where dummies will be after you once again. The goal is to make your way through this dark room to reach the door with the green exit sign. In order to dodge the dummies you’ll need to hide inside lockers when they are approaching you.

Once you make it to the door, the time will come for you to focus on finding the basement access card. The card is inside the neighbor’s freezer but you’ll need to turn off the freezer in order to actually grab it. Head to the train tracks again and travel along until you reach the side of the house that has two long windows with a long wire coming out of one of them. The wire is running into a generator that is locked in a cage. Use the umbrella to hop inside the window that the wire is coming out of. Follow the wire into a room with blue wallpaper. There is a painting that shows what the room used to look like. You need to collect all the items in the room and rearrange the room to look like how it looks in the painting. Once you do this the cage that houses the generator will open up. Jump over to the cage and turn the generator off.

Cutting the power means the ice in the freezer is starting to thaw. Make your way back to the neighbor’s freezer and grab the key card. If you don’t already have a crowbar you need to find one. Go to the room where you raised the platform up like a small elevator and grab the crowbar there. Make your way to the basement door and use the crowbar to remove the planks nailed into the door. Slide in the access card now and you will be granted access to a dim location that looks similar to the area you saw in Act 1 of Hello Neighbor. Go left and follow the long hallway. You’ll eventually find a fence blocking off two doors — one with a green light and one with a red light. Jump on to a pipe and then jump over the gate and go towards the exit sign. Enter this door and go to the end of the next hallway until you reach a white door. This will take you to the final location of Hello Neighbor.

Finale

You’ve finally arrived at the finale to Hello Neighbor! After the cutscene, run over to the construction set. Grab four cardboard boxes and use these to throw at the switch on a green section of wall. Now make your way over to the umbrella sign and climb the furniture until you reach the toaster. Hop inside and it will shoot you up to the green shelf. Flip the large switch here, which will turn on a large platform. When you see the circular platform moving, jump on. It will take you up to a small room. When you are in here, use a vase to smash the window and continue on.

In the next room there will be another switch. You need to flip it but as soon as you do the floor will start to fall apart. Multiple umbrellas are going to appear so grab one quickly and open it. Now you’ll be able to float your way over to a damaged lodge. Go inside and you’ll find a cake with candles in it. Take one of the candles and then jump towards the neighbor. You will notice fireworks next to him. Make your way over the firework and crouch down with the candle to light the fuse.

Now you’ll need to go to the toaster again. It will shoot you up towards a shelf with small balls on it. Use an umbrella to make your way over to the shelf and push one of the balls over the edge of the shelf so it falls into a device at the end. Now put the umbrella to use once again and float over to a green platform with some sort of missile on it. Use the candle to light the missile.

You’ll need to go back to the toaster again but this time it will shoot you up to the gramophone. From here you will need to jump on the house that is on the neighbor’s back. Go inside this house and you’ll meet a boy. Follow him as the house around you both continues to fall apart. You will end up in another bizarre location where you will actually encounter the neighbor. Open up the green door and you will have completed Hello Neighbor.

And there you have it! Here’s hoping your time with Hello Neighbor was made a lot easier through this guide. For more helpful articles, make sure to search for Twinfinite.
