Publisher Activision has announced that Call of Duty: WW2’s Ranked Play mode is finally coming to consoles later today, starting at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. This classic addition allows players to find out for themselves how well they fair against the competition and if they’re worthy enough to call themselves pros.
Ranked Play pits hardcore players against one another across Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag, and Hardpoint modes, all set within 4-versus-4-style matches. Settings are being taken directly from those found in Call of Duty World League, meaning turrets and some grenade types won’t be available to use. Some weapons will also be unavailable, including the Lewis, MG 15, Bren, and MG 42, and some attachments and equipment will be blocked as well. In case you were wondering, scorestreaks will be unavailable, too.
The way Ranked Play works is that each match won attributes to points earned towards unlocking the next rank. The first season – the one beginning very, very soon – is only for placement, whereas Season 1 will assign a skill rating that will be used in subsequent seasons thereafter. Unlocking a new rank earns the player a pretty sweet-looking helmet, which can be found below:
Penalties for leaving Ranked Play early come in the form of temporary bans. Quitting early once results in a 15-minute ban, twice results in a 30-minute ban, and three times results in a 45-minute ban, so you’d best want to go in as seriously as possible.
There’s no word yet as to whether or not Activision has plans on bringing Call of Duty: WW2’s Ranked Play mode to PC, though the publisher hasn’t ruled out possibility yet.
