Top 3 Best Anime of December 2017

If you enjoy watching Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), but find yourself feeling just a tad bit disconnected from some of the characters or not completely understanding their overall development, you should absolutely check out Shingeki no Kyojin: Lost Girls (Attack on Titan: Lost Girls). This original video animation (OVA) is an adaptation of the manga releases on Dec. 8 and takes the time to flesh out some of the mystery that still exists behind the series most fascinating characters. What makes this anime particularly interesting is that Lost Girls makes a point to focus on the perspective of the series impressive collection of heroines.

Itazura Majo to Nemuranai Machi

Top 3 Best Anime of December 2017

Itazura Majo to Nemuranai Machi (Sorcery in the Big City) is a great new addition to action-packed holiday anime specials. There is quite a bit to praise about this anime, from the animation style and action sequences to the variety of downright adorable relationships that are explored throughout this holiday-themed adventure. As a fair warning, the premise of the story sounds pretty quirky and makes you wonder if a decent ONA could possibly come from this. Rest assured, however, that the holiday story of an officer exchange program, a magical teddy bear, and a sorceress with unusually jiggly breasts and an obsession with ruining Christmas actually turn out to be quite enjoyable.

Nekopara

Top 3 Best Anime of December 2017

Nekopara is a bit of an unusual recommendation but still an OVA that you should be keeping your eye out for. Nekopara was originally a visual novel game that basically takes players into the midst of a cat-lady paradise — and we’re not talking old ladies with a ton of cats. A story about a bakery suddenly becomes the journey of a young man living in a house filled with incredibly attractive nekos, so anyone who watches a decent amount of anime has a general understanding of where this one is going. The visual novel game underscores a lot of sexual relationships, so it’s no surprise that the anime adaptation is being labeled as ecchi. The crowd-funded OVA is scheduled to release this month and will be based on volume 1 of the visual novel. It’s a light-hearted story filled with a variety of quirky personalities. If you’re willing to look beyond a lot of the sexual undertones of the graphic novel, it’s safe to say that the anime adaptation would be worth checking out.
