NOVEMBER 2017 PS4 VIDEO GAME RELEASES
(WEEKS ONE & TWO: OCT. 1-14)
The fall season is here, a time that typically sees the launch of some of the industry’s biggest gaming franchises. This year looks set to be no different with everything from huge AAA IPs to intriguing smaller experiences landing on Sony’s console in November.
The first week starts with a bang as Activision’s Call of Duty WW2 arrives on Nov. 3, marking the series’ big return to “boots on the ground” style action. Abandoning the futuristic science fiction setting of Advanced and Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty WW2 takes us back to the D-Day landings of 1944, storming the beaches of Normandy in a new campaign that looks like a gritty and realistic portrayal of the conflict.
Less than a week later, a thrill-ride of fast-paced driving and chaotic chase sequences ensues with Need for Speed: Payback. Although you might have to pause the action temporarily while you playthrough the Frozen Wilds, the DLC for the hugely successful PS4 exclusive, Horizon Zero Dawn. The Frozen Wilds sees Aloy travel to a mysterious mountain in the heart of Banuk territory, exploring new cultures and forging new relationships. Players can make use of a host of new weapons and an increased level cap.
There’s no let up at all moving into week two, with Sonic’s next 3D platforming adventure, Forces, arriving for PS4. Forces combines the side-scrolling and 3D gameplay we’ve seen in previous games, except this time running on a gorgeous new graphical engine at 60 frames-per-second. Better still, there’s an all-new character creation “Hero” mode that allows players to design their own characters. Other releases include IO Interactive’s Hitman Game of the Year edition, a compilation of every episode from the critically acclaimed stealth-action game.
The week ends with Star Wars Battlefront 2 launching on Oct. 14. The sequel title to 2015’s multiplayer-only title introduces a beautiful seven-hour single-player campaign and space combat — both features that were sorely missed in the first game. The franchise’s sizable following in combination with hype for the upcoming Star Wars movie will make this one a popular choice for many.
The other notable release at the end of week two sees The Sims 4 release on console. The popular life simulation game has had huge success on PC, and the PS4 version packs all the same content to look forward to. There’s also a remaster of L.A Noire and Bioshock’s 10th Anniversary edition out at the very end of the week, must-play experiences for those that haven’t already had the pleasure, or a great definitive edition for longtime fans.

NOVEMBER 2017 PS4 VIDEO GAME RELEASES
(WEEKS THREE & FOUR: OCT. 15-31)
The intensity of game releases slows a little into the third and fourth weeks, but there’s still plenty to look forward to. If you’re a PSVR owner then you can take advantage of the Skyrim VR experience, which is much more than just a tack-on piece of additional content. It is, in fact, the game in its entirety, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the massive open world of this Elder Scrolls epic.
The rest of the month is dominated by additional content for some well-known IPs. Assassin’s Creed Origins’ first DLC, The Trials of the Gods, arrives on Nov. 17. The DLC pits players against the Egyptian gods in boss battles during special timed events, rewarding with special loot for the victorious.
Final Fantasy XV’s Monsters of the Deep then launches soon after, taking the base game’s fishing mini-game to a whole new level. Another VR experience, Monsters of the Deep has players travel to different locations to fish, catch various types of sea creatures, and even cook the fish with the other members of Prince Noctis’s crew.
The last release of the month is Black Mirror, a reboot of the original 2004 point-and-click adventure game. The gothic-horror adventure is a new interpretation of the deeply atmospheric title, telling an all-new tale that won’t require players to have experienced the original. The game is not related to the popular Netflix show.
