“Jump Up, Super Star”, the theme song for Super Mario Odyssey, is available on iTunes in North America, and it’s already been a huge seller. The catchy track, which sells for $1.29, has actually managed to break into the All Genre Top 25! A sharp eyed Reddit user captured a photo of the show tune breaking into the Top 40, and since then it has continued to climb.
In Japan and Hong Kong, “Jump Up, Super Star” is still in the iTunes Top 10 for the All Genre category. Since its unveiling at E3, the song has become a huge hit in gaming circles. Last week Nintendo released a trailer featuring Mario dancing to the track alongside a real life Pauline and background dancers. The video went viral, already accumulating over 6 million views on YouTube. Prominent VGM YouTubers, including Insaneintherain, have done popular covers of the tune as well.
iTunes credits “Jump Up, Super Star” to The Super Mario Players feat. Kate Davis, who voices Pauline. Mrs. Davis is also the voice of Sakura Haruno in Naruto, and previously voiced Miles Tails Prower from the Sonic the Hedgehog series from 2010-2013.
The build up to Super Mario Odyssey has been intense since its incredible showing at E3, but Switch owners won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on it! Super Mario Odyssey comes out in just six days, on Friday, Oct. 27.
