“Work is underway on updates, fixes and Xbox One X enhancements for Halo: The Master Chief Collection,” Microsoft tweeted its official Halo account following the stream.

Bonnie Ross, who heads up Halo developer 343 Industries, appeared toward the end of the stream to speak about the remaster. “For us, we have been looking at when the right opportunity is to upgrade [The Master Chief Collection],” said Ross. “When we do it to get the maximum benefit, we do feel that we want to move it to the latest platform updates, so we can take advantage of all the great stuff that the Xbox platform team has done.

“[The Master Chief Collection] is six engines. It’s not an easy thing to move over, and there’s a lot of risk, which doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do it. It just means we should be cautious about when we should do it.”

Continuing, Ross said fans would have to wait until spring 2018 to get their first look at the improved Master Chief Collection. Ross says she and her team at 343 will be soliciting fan feedback about the collection then, but she sounded confident the Xbox One is going to allow her studio to improve the experience.

“This is the time we’re going to crack it open, move it over to the latest game operating system which has amazing improvements to matchmaking from which we’ll benefit from,” she said.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection originally launched on Xbox One in November 2014. It contained Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4 with Halo 3: ODST being added later as a free download to those who purchased the collection.
