Best Dribble Moves in NBA 2K18

Aside from breaking ankles to break past defenders, dribble moves help you prepare your shots faster or create more space between you and the defender. You can select each dribble move animation for your MyPlayer in NBA 2K18, from moving crossovers and moving spins to between the leg combos and behind the back combos. With all of these choices being overwhelming for newcomers, which dribble move animation should you equip?

First off, it’s important for your character to have a high ball control rating. If not, it’s easy for defenders to steal the ball when you perform dribble moves. Increasing your ball control rating and overall rating will also unlock better ball control moves. Firstly, reaching a 65 overall rating unlocks pro dribble animations. Increasing your ball control rating to 75 is required to unlock both pro dribble moves and signature player moves from NBA players. Lastly, reaching a 90 ball control rating and 70 overall rating unlocks elite dribble moves.

Similar to past games in the series, randomly performing dribble moves won’t get you anywhere. Make sure you familiarize yourself first with the controls and combinations before spending your Virtual Currency (VC) on expensive dribble moves.

Just like with layups and dunks, choosing the best dribble animations depends on your preference. However, it’s best to pick dribble moves that have a fast forward movement and animation as they help you in moving quicker towards the basket, quickly transitioning to the next dribble move, or speedily halt your movement for a quick jump shot. An exception to this is the spin move, as a faster movement will causes your character to have less control of the ball. Obviously, the more advanced moves, such as the elite ones, are wildly faster and more complicated compared to the basic dribbles.
