How to Get Organic Polymer and What it Does in ARK: Survival Evolved
As you begin harvesting resources in ARK: Survival Evolved, you’ll find yourself coming across quite a bit of polymer. Polymer is a pretty useful resource that can be used to craft a variety of items in ARK: Survival Evolved including armor, weapons, and even bunk beds. But eventually you may find yourself coming across a specific type of polymer that many would consider to be a tad bit more useful — organic polymer. Organic polymer is a crafting material that can be used in place of regular polymer but there are two key differences you’ll want to keep in mind. The first is that this version of polymer spoils rather quickly (30 minutes) so you’ll want to use it as soon as possible. The second is that the Ghillie Armor will be exceptions to the polymer replacement rule. You will have to use only organic polymer if you want to create this mid-tier armor that offers some added protection against physical damage and the cold while also offering a substantial amount of protection against the heat.
If you’re looking for organic polymer, you’ll want to hunt down the types of creatures in ARK: Survival Evolved that drop it. That means you will need to track down (or spawn) the following monsters:
- Kairuku
- Mantis
- Herperornis
- Achatina
Keep in mind that Achatina is a snail that many players will actually tame and trap in a room in order to keep picking up organic polymer as the Achatina produces it. This is a useful trick but keep in mind that you won’t be seeing incredibly high yields of organic polymer by using this method. If you just don’t feel like doing much work, however, it’s a fair plan B.
In addition to giving you the resources you will need to craft the Ghillie Armor, organic polymer can also be used as a way to kill yourself in the game if necessary. Consuming this raw resource will deal 500 damage to the player if it is consumed.
