How to Download the Destiny 2 Beta on Xbox One

Recommended Videos

The Destiny 2 beta is rolling out this week, and eager Guardians everywhere are looking to extend their legends. There are two betas (which are really the same, but it gates off access for certain groups on certain dates) that each require the app to access, although downloading the app isn’t as straightforward as it should be, so we’ll break down how to download it for you.

The closed beta will kick off on the Xbox One on July 19 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET. This is only available to those who pre-order Destiny 2. If you bought the game digitally, from the Xbox Live Marketplace, you can just search Destiny 2 – Beta and immediately download the app, that way you can play as soon as it goes live. If you bought the game elsewhere, you will need to redeem the promotion code you got from the vendor here. Then, log into your Bungie.net account and get the code from your profile (it will ask you to choose a platform). Redeem the code on your Xbox One and you’ll be able to download the Destiny 2 beta.

If you don’t have a code, you’ll have to wait until the Open Beta goes live (which is on July 21 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET) to download it. You’ll then get to skip past the need for the code and jump right in. Do note that you won’t be alone on that day, so you should expect a lot of slowdown as the traffic on the Xbox store ramps up.

This is how you download the Destiny 2 beta on your Xbox One. Get in there and have fun.
