2017 Games to Look Forward To
2017 may be halfway done, but that doesn’t mean that the game releases are disappearing right along with the first six months of this year. There are still plenty of releases that you should be keeping on your radar. July, the first month of the second half of 2017, starts off a bit slow with releases, unless you’re a Nintendo fan.
The Switch gets the highly anticipated Splatoon 2. Players will once again step into the shoes/tentacles of a Squidling as they fight for supremacy of battlefields using different colored inks to make your mark. Nintendo threw in some customization and other fun additions, plus you can now take Splatoon on the go thanks to the Switch’s hybrid functionality. Don’t worry, though, 3DS owners, you get some love too in the form of Hey! Pikmin, a new adventure that trades in 3D for a 2D sidescrolling setup.

August
2017 Games to Look Forward To
August has quite a bit more to offer, this time letting the PS4, Xbox One, and PC join in on the fun, though Nintendo once again has a potential hit for fans. The Xbox One gets a new exclusive from Fullbright (the folks that brought us Gone Home) called Tacoma that sees players explore a mysterious space station. The PS4 also gets a few exclusives in August such as Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Yakuza Kiwami (a remake of the first game in the series), and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. But of course , Nintendo is aiming to steal the spotlight once more. While it looked weird when it was first leaked prior to E3 2017, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle looks like the perfect crossover between the world of Super Mario, the insanity of Ubisoft’s Rabbids, and games in the vein of XCOM. It’s surprisingly challenging, and the humor definitely keeps you locked in.
There are some big multiplatform titles out this month as well, such as Sonic Mania, Madden NFL 18, and Life is Strange: Before the Storm. August is offering up a little something for everyone, making the hot summer month a perfect time to stay in your AC blasted house while enjoying some video games.

September
2017 Games to Look Forward To
September is already marked on a lot of gamers’ calendars, particularly those of the Guardian persuasion. Destiny 2 finally releases on PS4 and Xbox One at the beginning of the month, ushering in a new legend to be built and new threats to deal with. Of course, it’s not the only major game of the month as we start moving towards the holiday season.
The Switch gets some more love in the form of Pokken Tournament DX, a remastered Wii U game that brings the full roster from the Japanese arcade as well as introducing a few new fighters. Cuphead finally hits the Xbox One (we thought this one was never going to come out). Oh and a little major sports title called FIFA 18 releases on a long list of platforms, just in case you’re into that sort of thing. September is looking mighty fine.

October
2017 Games to Look Forward To
The Xbox One gets another much-needed exclusive to kick off October as Forza Motorsport races onto the scene. It offers over 700 vehicles, over 200 tracks, dynamic weather, and some of the best visuals you’ve ever seen. After that, Octoboer seems to be the month of sequels, as nearly the entire month is comprised of followups to big games. Shadow of War takes Shadow of Mordor’s nemesis system to a whole new level, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus brings even more of the bombastic action that The New Order provided, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole trades in magic for super powers.
Two major releases of this month are more like evolutions than just mere sequels, though. You have Super Mario Odyssey, the latest 3D adventure starring everyone’s favorite mustachioed plumber. Thanks to Cappy, his living hat, players will be able to control inanimate objects and even enemies. On the other side of the spectrum is Assassin’s Creed Origins, a game with a lot to prove. After giving the annualized series a break, Ubisoft has doubled down on the action-RPG elements and changed a lot of the game’s systems, making for a refreshing game with new challenges.

November
2017 Games to Look Forward To
November has a few big deals releasing within its weeks. Before we get into the video games, there’s a new piece of hardware that you may want to consider – the Xbox One X. This is a new version of the Xbox One that has all the dials turned up to 11 allowing for native 4K, HDR, faster load times, and other improvements to upcoming games and those that already exist. Microsoft, being the smart company that it is, will also be releasing a new exclusive alongside the console that everyone has been waiting on, Crackdown 3. We’ll finally be able to jump over buildings and use amazing powers to beat up bad guys in a large open world. And if you like to bring cities toppling down, multiplayer will allow you to do just that.
Shooter fans will most likely rejoice in November as well. Sledgehammer Games is taking Call of Duty back to its roots with Call of Duty: WWII. And DICE is revisiting Star Wars Battlefront with some notes from their first outing. Now players can experience a single-player mode and larger battles.

2017 Games to Look Forward To
There are still a few games worth considering that have yet to receive locked in release dates but are, as of the time of writing, confirmed to be releasing near the end of 2017. They may fall in December, or possibly in months earlier, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on that. The list includes two titles for the Nintendo Switch, both of which are massive RPGs that are sure to eat up hours of your time as you take your handheld/home console hybrid with you everywhere you go. The other game is Sony finally giving us a new entry in a celebrated racing series.
