Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn was released earlier this year in February and was exclusive to the PlayStation 4. The game received critical acclaim upon release for its fun gameplay and stunning graphics. Developer Guerrilla Games has also been constantly updating the game with free new features such as in-depth additions to the photo mode.

It’s safe to say the game has been a triumph for Sony and it looks like the game has also sold very well with gamers. In a recent interview with Glixel, PlayStation boss Shawn Layden stated the game has sold over 3.4 million copies since it was released. Layden said: “We’ve been so proud of what that studio has been able to do,” he says. “It’s a brave step for that studio to go from making shooters like Killzone to an open world game.”

It was confirmed that 915,000 of the game’s sales were digital, a large number for digital sales. Layden said of this: “This kind of shift changes everything. It changes the publishing model, it allows smaller players to put out games, it affects DLC and it has a huge impact,”

It has since been confirmed that a new story expansion is in the works for Horizon Zero Dawn but no specifics have been given thus far. Perhaps we’ll see it at E3 this year?
