Watch Legendary Composer Yasunori Mitsuda Introduce Valkyria Revolution’s Main Theme

As gorgeous as you'd expect.

Valkyria Revolution

It’s been nearly seven years since we’ve gotten a Valkyria game in North America, but the release of Valkyria Revolution next month will finally change that. Legendary composer Yasunori Mitsuda is taking the lead with the new title. A new video released by PlayStation today introduces the gorgeous main theme of Valkyria Revolution, along with a short message from Mitsuda himself.

You might know Mitsuda from his previous work on beloved titles like Chrono Trigger, Xenosaga, and Kid Icarus: Uprising. Valkryia Revolution is loosely based on 19th-century Europe, and because of that Mitsuda chose to record with a full symphony orchestra. In the video he states, “I tried to write it [the soundtrack] so that a player’s emotions will be linked with the shape of the music, so while you’re playing I hope you’ll stop and listen to the soundtrack every so often.” You can take a look at the full video down below, and look at the PS Blog post for more details. Mitsuda will also be scoring another game this year, as the main composer for Nintendo’s Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Valkryia Revolution launches on June 27 for both PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PS Vita. Late last year we found out that Revolution isn’t necessarily a new direction for the series, but a spinoff, as the franchise will officially be splitting in two.
