The game was finally officially revealed today during a livestream. The livestream featured a trailer, a chat with the Sledgehammer about the development process, and news about the release date and upcoming multiplayer beta.

The team spend two and a half years researching and studying. They took thousands of photographs, watched documentaries, met with World War II veterans, visited museums, drove vehicles and fired weapons from the war, and used photo techniques to capture the tiniest of details.

They even travelled the routes of the first infantry division and visited many key places throughout Europe to main sure their game was authentic.

Marty Morgan was the name of the historian that helped with their research and he worked with Sledgehammer for two years. He helped them “capture the essence of war” with his knowledge of the conflict.

Call of Duty: WWII will be available later this year, on November 3.
