Mass Effect Andromeda: How to Get the Best Ultra Rare Weapons & Armor Easily

How to Get Ultra Rare Weapons and Armor in Mass Effect: Andromeda Easily

Recommended Videos

Gear in Mass Effect: Andromeda comes in four tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Ultra Rare. Naturally, Ultra Rare gear is the most difficult to obtain, costing the most at vendors, requiring the most research points for blueprints, and almost never dropping from enemies. However, there is a way to up your chances to receive these powerful Ultra Rare weapons and it only requires one Andromeda Viability Point (AVP).

Once you have one – you should have one or two after finishing up on the first planet with your crew – you can start unlocking Cryo Pods. Under the Military category is a pod called Reconnaissance which reveals secret caches around Forward Stations that you activate. It seems like it will all just be materials or high-value salvage, but it turns out that you can get some really great items from those crates.

I’ve collected several Ultra Rare weapons of all technology types, and some high level gear. With the gear you find in these caches you can hold off on crafting until you can afford to make the very best stuff out there. You can even get Tier V weaponry as you progress through the game, though crafting your own of that caliber may provide more perks.. Still, this is some of the best gear you can get without even having to learn how to create your own stuff.

It’s also worth noting that not every cache will have a piece of Ultra Rare gear. You’ll get them often enough, but others will contain rare gear and you will receive valuable resources and salvage on top of any weapons or armor you may find. And, if you were hoping to get N7 armor out of these, we unfortunately have to inform you that we haven’t seen a single piece. Don’t worry though, there is a way to get N7 armor in the game.
