Mass Effect: Andromeda’s Main Villains
A massive RPG needs an antagonist worth chasing through space in order to engage players, and Mass Effect: Andromeda is no different. This time around, players are in a brand new galaxy exploring a part of space known as the Heleus Cluster, and the big baddies in this space are the Kett. They’re ugly aliens that look as if they wear their skeletons on the outside of their bodies. Of course, they’re more than just creepy looking cannon fodder, they’re quite menacing and a bit disturbing.
MAJOR STORY SPOILERS FOR MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA AHEAD. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE KETT AND THEIR EVIL, TURN BACK NOW. IF YOU’RE JUST ITCHING TO KNOW, THOUGH, READ AHEAD!
The Kett are a very advanced species of aliens, but they are also very narcissistic (as many evil species are). They seek to “exalt” everyone, to praise them for being the most worthy. What exactly are they worthy of, you ask? Of becoming Kett. The Kett kidnap thousands of aliens from other species in order to forcefully turn them into the Chosen you see as you explore. They integrate the new DNA into their system to become better, faster, stronger.
In their eyes, they are the greatest beings in the universe and they’re seeking to take over everything. They kill those they have no need of, and change the rest, torturing some for information just so they can find more. When you cross their path, this evil, alien race is looking into the Remnants, just like you are. They want to combine with the ancient geniuses that constructed the monoliths that have proven to be so crucial for the Andromeda Initiative’s survival so that they may transcend their technological limitations. And if they have to tear you to pieces to do so, then so be it.
