How to Unlock and Equip Skills in Mass Effect Andromeda

Recommended Videos

Similar to past games in the series, Mass Effect Andromeda allows you to unlock new skills as you gain experience points and level up your character. With each level that you gain, Ryder will gain skill points, which are used to purchase new abilities to help you out in combat. To use your skill points, bring up your main menu and select the Skills option.

From here, you’ll have a few tabs to choose from: Combat, Biotics, and Tech. Combat lets you gain more traditional offensive powers, and also improves your efficiency with specific firearm types. The Biotics and Tech options let you learn new abilities such as the iconic Throw and Overload. After unlocking an ability, you’ll gain access to a separate skill tree that lets you power it up even further, such as increasing its effectiveness and lowering its recharge rate.

After unlocking a skill, remember to bind it to your shoulder buttons by hitting the Y button (or triangle if you’re on PS4). You can bind up to three different skills to your buttons.
